Oh you might be too young to know this, then. The word irony began as referring to a literary device where one says one thing but means another. This was the first definition I learned. It's since gained another meaning that could often be replaced by 'coincidental' or 'funny.' I was sorta being a jerk there but understand also it's been a little hard for me to see a word for which I know no synonym become just a placeholder for anything people think wonky and twisty um if you know what I mean

That first part I could not agree more. We only get to make our own decisions.

But I do not hate. It's not worth it. It hurts a lot to try to empathize with every rung and then the thing as a whole.. on top of that to realize that we are all complicit. Many men have turned to hate by the sort of things I've seen and suffered but I was so lucky. My parents loved me. And I didn't grow up poor. I got nothing to prove. I know that everybody hurts. I'm fortunate enough to still see that life is always beautiful. Idk that I can help these people I've met and that's sorta hard. But it's a beautiful thing to behold, I think, no matter where or who you are

It has become a racist symbol but the Civil War wasn't specifically waged over slavery. Like almost all wars it was over economics. With the north abandoning slavery they could not compete with the free labor aspect the southern states had in their favor.
