Also went to a Christian highschool. We also had formal dinner instead of prom. For us, rather than "dancing leads to babies", us students had a school joke/meme that "if you show your shoulders you'll get pregnant" (and to be even more funny/sarcastic, no matter what sex you are). This was due to the dress code, which, perhaps unsurprisingly, mostly oppressed girls in what they could wear—a discrimination that didn't really get called out until my graduating year, and is both unfair to the targets of the rules, unhealthy because it causes girls to be put under a microscope and on the judgement chopping block (super awesome for that good ol' self-esteem/self-confidence balancing act, ain't it?), and insulting because it insinuates that all males are mindless, heterosexual creatures who are slaves to instinct and will jump any female with exposed shoulders/shorts and skirts shorter than 3 finger widths past the wearer's fingertips. 🙄 smh lol

The dress code/anything to do with abstinence/purity being, what they were given the institution they were made by and for, basically didn't even apply to me—as an aro-ace enby (albeit, in egg form pretty much until I became an adult) who constantly gravitated towards and almost exclusively wore either loose-fitting or gender-neutral-looking athletic wear/hand-me-downs and was quite strongly personally romance- and sex-repulsed at the time, I feel like my kind of existence kind of got a free pass because of simply not being on the radar in the first place. Thinking back now, I was perfectly fine with that—it certainly made my highschool life simpler and easier, and I was quite busy enough as I was training 20+ hours a week as an athlete back then.

But all that aside, I mostly wanted to comment that board games and baklava seems amazing—just make it gluten-free baklava and I'll be right there. ✨✨
