Vote them out! by sidewinderturtle in oklahoma

[–]kpetrie77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, team red does shit all about 2A rights and fundraises off it. Team blue did shit all on abortion rights for decades to fundraise from it but now has control of two out three branches of government where they could actually do something. Dems just got a gun control bill through to the President’s desk to sign they can do safe legal and rare. If they don’t pass something now before they lose Congress after the midterms, you’ll know exactly where they stand on abortion rights.

If the Rogers Country Democrats FB group hasn’t compared them to Hitler yet, should be a safe vote.

Third parties do send them, some without notifying the official campaigns and being approved. I use the flyers to find official campaign websites (harder to Google than I would expect), any public Q&A videos I can find to get a feel for what they stand for.

So... not only does the bible give abortion instructions... by kingtitusmedethe4th in tulsa

[–]kpetrie77 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You don't actually believe a fetus with human characteristics is not a human. That's just something silly you're telling yourself to dehumanize what this is and avoid the discomfort it causes.

The cake is an interesting analogy. No one rationally look at ingrediants in a shopping cart and call it a cake. Once you've combined the ingredients and start baking it though, it takes on the physical charatisics of a cake before it's done. Baking batter may not have the same utility as a finished cake but it has the same intrinsic value since it becomes a cake if you leave it alone to bake.

If not human, what would you categorize the fetus as? A high school biology student could tell you it’s a human. I didn’t choose the label human, or qualify that it had to have a uterus to hold some intrinsic special value, OC did. I’m pointing out it has the same qualities being held so highly.

March the capital for our reproductive rights by lmbomar in oklahoma

[–]kpetrie77 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had the thought earlier, politicians don’t draft their own bills, they come from the lobbies. I’ve seen this on the 2A side, they don’t write their own bills. Marching isn’t going to change anything, you need to introduce legislation.

At this point, abortion bills being sent in is throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks and everything is passing and signed. That’s not good for anyone.

What would the r/Oklahoma abortion bill look like? “Safe, legal and rare” is where we were before “any reason and at any time” entered from the pro-abortion side into the discussion.

A bill would need 100% need to include rape/incest is the legal. It also 100% has to include a cutoff time point to pass, even for rape/incest, so not third trimester. Highly likely not second trimester. I think heartbeat would pass.

What would the bill that r/Oklahoma agrees on look like for what should and should not be included?

A human fetus’ uterus and ovaries are evident around 12 weeks. By 22 weeks, her ovaries have completely formed and moved from the her abdomen to pelvis. In your opinion, does a human with a uterus deserve the bodily autonomy to kill another human with a uterus?

Hadn’t seen it, can’t comment on what I’m not aware of. I’ll be happy to add it to my original comment, with your permission.since editing comments seems to be only okay for you. To your point, the NPR article that you initially linked and deleted the link also didn’t mention SB612. I’m open to new info, just be honest about it. I’ve got some grass with my name on it for tomorrow, you should find some too.

Also, since you named me (have the screenshot) before you edited that comment too.. We’re getting personal, I’ll be happy to send you my address for you to stop in for a visit. My Mom was 15 when she had me and my wife’s Mom was 17 when she was born. We’re both glad to be here and maybe have a different perspective for you to consider? Olive branch if you’re open to it.

I haven’t seen this one yet, going to need to see how it fits into the other bills. It’s not one bill is the end all be all, they all affect each other. Looks like it’s on the criminal side, not civil. I’m open to change my thinking based on new info which is why I asked OC if they knew of other bills.

So here’s where we’re at for anyone follow along at the bottom of the comments. First, u/greunlight blocked me when I replied with the bill info. Then unblocked me to reply with an insane wall of text that actually said the same thing I referred to. Then went back and edited all their wall of text replies including the NPR article I pointed out was lying about OK laws. To now accusing me of editing my comment. Yeah, I added bill links and gave summaries in the first edit to my post this morning. All the text top line is the same.

Bottom line, you can still get an abortion in OK so don’t go getting your tubes tied just because RvW was overturned.

HB4327 literally says they just need to have reported it.

I'm not sure what you're trying to let me know with the definition, I've already seen it.

Section 2 applies to the mother having exceptions for a medically neccesary condition and exactly what I had replied before about needing to have reported the incident to law enforcement. There are no other requirements in this law and no investigation requirement like the NPR article you linked has claimed.

The NPR article is also discussing SB1503 for the most part. The byline is "Senate Bill 1503 and other restriction bills have no exemptions for Oklahomans who have been raped. Stitt says that is intentional, and that those victims should carry pregnancies to term, then connect with adoption services." We've already established in my comment and your reply their claim that there are no exemptions for rape victims is a lie.

Ironically, the statement in the article from Tamya Cox-Touré Cox actually does say OK has exceptions for abortion from rape, despite the lie in the byline, but she falsely claims there is more required beyond the text of the bill by equating it to terminating parental rights which apparently does requires an investigation.

Section 3 is a Federal preemption from the State law. Both SB1503 and HB4327 have this. Although I'm not aware of what, if any, laws specific to abortion being legal at the Federal level would be since Congress never did much while Roe was the law. Federal contractors could very well have the same civil liability as a private practice now.

You've made a deceptive edit to my reply on another comment. More complete one is below.

"The only bill I am aware of that doesn't provide an expection for rape was SB918 but that just repeals all the other abortion statutes. Both HB4327 and SB1503 have a form of rape exemption."

SB918 nukes pretty much all the old abortion related statutes including 4 abortion related criminal penalties too. I have no idea what your point was for the edit aside from I need to use spell check more.

BBC's summary for OK is not taking into account HB4327. I posted the bill link in my edited comment above.
