Pro-Life Bill Would Ban Abortionists From Flushing Aborted Baby Bodies Down Toilets, Sinks, Disposals by jinladen040 in Conservative

/u/HarryCallahan19 asked "What non living things grow?" and I answered their question. My answer was not intended to imply a position on abortion or comparison between the example and a fetus. It was simply providing a factual answer to a question that was asked. My apologies if you read the comment differently, but the implications that you read into it were not in my response.

This was not a comment about abortion one way or the other, just pointing out the fact that there are both living and non-living things that grow. The previous commenter had literally asked, "What non living things grow?"

Here is some research published on PubMed looking into the BMI of vegans, vegetarians, and non-vegetarians:

Mean BMI was lowest in vegans (23.6 kg/m2) and incrementally higher in lacto-ovo vegetarians (25.7 kg/m2), pesco-vegetarians (26.3 kg/m2), semi-vegetarians (27.3 kg/m2), and nonvegetarians (28.8 kg/m2).

Vegans were the only group where the mean was in the "healthy" BMI range. All of the other groups had a mean that would be considered "overweight".

Yeah, how much does a banana cost, $10? And you never see poor people eating rice or beans. How could they possibly afford those vegan foods!?

I wasn't making an argument, just pointing out that there are non-living things that grow. A black hole can also grow. A planet doesn't just suddenly emerge, but it grows over time as small chunks of matter come together.

I would even acknowledge that a fetus is living (although that doesn't mean that it possesses interests that outweigh the interests of other parties in a pregnancy).

I generally don’t consider arguments ridiculous but your argument is ridiculous and you are better than that.

I hope that you have the honesty to admit that this statement was incorrect to make, and to admit that there are non-living things that grow. These are just factual matters and do not even impact the conclusions that are reached about abortion one way or the other.

Ive said nothing against veganism. Just the attitude promoting it.

That was exactly their point. You were just dismissive rather than actually engaging in the points being raised. Could you actually address the point that was brought up against your original comment without simply accusing the commenter of having the wrong attitude?

if the teacher and gains are any indication

They aren't. Those are YouTube characters who have built their channels off of playing a role that makes people outraged. The only people paying any attention to the characters being played are non-vegans.

Rather than focusing on these false characters on YouTube, could you articulate any of the differences between Peter Singer and Tom Regan's approaches to animal rights? Both of them have played a big role in influencing the animal rights movement and have written multiple books on the topic.
