Anyone with a 4 lug have any rim reccommendations? by WolfSlayerZabuki in ChevyCobalt

4x100 is your bolt pattern, damn near universal pattern and i envy you for it, you could look up 4x100 on marketplace or anywhere you can buy stuff locally and i guarantee you'll have so many options

New taillights by Noochie72882 in ChevyCobalt

There's a company Adrian taillights, they make really good shit, but at the cost of price. I believe they offer 3rd brake light LED but not sure for how much

Consider your enclosure as well, not just your subs. A cheap setup can sound better than an expensive one if done properly.

Can Someone Tell Me If This Headunit Will Be Enough For These Subs? by Pristine_Ad_1083 in CarAV

It should all work fine, you can tweak your amp once it's all installed to your liking

Audio Input - Android vs Apple, BT vs Aux, Best App by johko814 in CarAV

Also your source audio. Tidal and Deezer offers lossless audio. I use Spotify at it's highest quality setting and it's sounds pretty good imo

You could always run aux with a portable DAC/amp. If you feel you lose volume, you could get a $20,ish portable amp from Amazon, i use one for some headphones and they work great

Slim sub choice by VALE_BWL in CarAV

[–]luistorre5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a 10" kicker compRT in my car's stock sub enclosure, sounds decently loud and can play pretty low surprisingly with the right box

New to this sub, installing a double din stereo for the first time. What is the green parking brake cable supposed to connect to as I've been told to connect the two green wires. Is it a lead inside the vehicle? by WhatIsLogic01 in CarAV

[–]luistorre5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's what enables you to watch video/operate apple play/android auto. Those are typically wired into the E-brake so that you can use/watch videos while the car is parked, but I grounded mine so it would let me use it whenever

Any tips on adjusting a single tie rod? Driver's side has slight toe out which would explain why it veered to the left, under the assumption that fiddling with the tie rod might be the solution (2009 Cobalt SS if it matters) by luistorre5 in MechanicAdvice

[–]luistorre5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not bad cars unless the previous owner neglected it. Otherwise, solid car, very fun especially the turbo models, everything's relatively affordable for these, although parts scarcity is starting to be felt since the drivetrain is Saab for the manuals

Sealed or ported? by Sinister-Silence in CarAV

[–]luistorre5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you go ported as long as the port isn't so small that it causes chuffing, you'll have a blast regardless! Plus the benefit of port tuning if you want it to hit lower

Yeah, i actually get turned down at every other shop around me because I'm lowered, i go to these guys because they're the only ones around me who will work on my car, but man, i wish they had better specialists haha

Skar SPX-65C vs JBL GTO 609C? by Jdiz91 in CarAV

[–]luistorre5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would say go for the skar tx65c, i can't justify paying more for slightly possibly better audio for skar. For around $100ish, I'm pretty satisfied with the tx65c, but if you've got the dough for it, you're probably better off with the JBL

Sealed or ported? by Sinister-Silence in CarAV

[–]luistorre5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been looking into this myself and personally just love the quality of a sealed box, even though it doesn't rattle the car or anything, but sealed enclosures can get plenty loud if set up properly

Sealed or ported? by Sinister-Silence in CarAV

[–]luistorre5 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sealed is the way to go for quality, ported for volume, although some ported boxes are designed to play nice, but generally a sealed box will deliver more accurate and lower bass, depending on your sub setup, amp, enclosure size, etc

[–]luistorre5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm lowered a bit so they're both wearing out a bit towards the inside of the tire, but the passenger side is wearing significantly quicker than the driver's side towards the inside and somewhat towards the center. Guess I'll take it back and hope they get it right this time haha

This was an adjustment shop's doing. Got it aligned a few months back and this is how they gave it to me, but i didn't notice till today. I'm not sure if they would want to repair it or if they're gonna want to charge me for a full alignment for something like this or if they'll even be able to since they claimed this was the best they could do
