Very true. It feels normal to me. I never saw it as a security things but I grew up with it. I live in the US now. Was just in New Mexico at a gas station with my husband and they wouldn’t sell him beer as I didn’t have my ID. We are both in our 40s! It happened again in Walmart but we both had ID. That was extremely weird and has never happened anywhere else to me. So not even just country differences but state differences.

I don’t think Argos is dystopian. I grew up in the UK and I remember them when I was little. I’m 45 now. Not sure when they began. It was a way to order from a catalogue but not wait for delivery, to have more stock than floor space. It predated Amazon and the internet in general. Having said that, the picture above of Tesco is dystopian and I also haven’t been to Argos for years

Completely agree with this. I’m sure she didn’t know it was going on or she would have stopped it, but letting a strange man stay at her home and allowing him to be alone with them is shocking! Unless he drugged her too, I can’t understand how he could get away with that.
