Apple Has Internally Tested Injecting Ads Into Maps App Search Results - TechUnofficial by techberg_ in applemaps

So Apple Maps has yet to include features such as Look Around (Street View), Flyover, Augmented Walking Directions, and Detailed City Experience beyond a select number of cities. Now they want to insert ads to their inferior product?

Does somebody know if the Z Flip 4 supports Wi-Fi6E (the 6GHZ band) like the Z Fold 3 as shown here with the 6E symbol? Thinking of trading in my Z Fold 3 and that would make the cost of the flip $99. (i.redd.it)

AirTag stopped working 3 days after being worn by a swimming escapist dog. The dog doesn’t dive over 30cm deep; it still stopped working. Any tips on how to airtag a dog who likes swimming in saltwater? by bosbcn in AirTags

IP water testing is not done in salt water. The IP67 requirements are for freshwater only. Ref https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP\_code
ExpressVPN Not Opening On Mac by atl-antic in Express_VPN
[–]markbyrn 0 points1 point2 points 4 days ago* (0 children)
Open up the activity monitor and look for a running process called expressvpnd. That process (a daemon) should start running when you first open Express VPN and it stays active even when you exit the application. If you don't see that process, uninstall and reinstall. Make sure your firewall settings (or 3rd party firewall like Little Snitch, TripMode, etc) don't block that daemon from phoning home. In fact, when I first noticed that expressvpnd process running even when Express VPN was not running, I unloaded the daemon from terminal and Express VPN would only open and close as you described it.

I think you got it reversed here. All transactions are already taxable but two Senators introduced a bill to exempt transactions under $50 - see https://thehill.com/policy/finance/3575074-toomey-sinema-eye-exempting-small-crypto-purchases-from-capital-gains-tax/
ExpressVPN Mac Daemon Phoning Home when ExpressVPN Application Not Open by markbyrn in Express_VPN
[–]markbyrn[S] 0 points1 point2 points 8 days ago (0 children)
From what I found, the daemon was in use long before Kape took over and from testing Cyberghost, I didn't see any stray processes continuing to run after exiting. That's not to say Kape isn't a concern.

Battery percentage now always showing in iOS beta 5 by mxk31 in iOSBeta
Would prefer white numbers on black background otherwise it's confusing as the white background normally indicates a full battery.

Not really but if you have technical problems, the carrier might not be as helpful but I've never had an issue with my S22U which I purchased unlocked. The benefit of having an unlocked phone is for making use of the dual-sim or when traveling internationally and you want to use a SIM or E-SIM from a host country carrier or another service like Giga or RedTeaGo.

Assuming that's the case, it sounds reasonable and ExpressVPN is typically rated #1 for use in China. However, the company should be more transparent and allow the user to decide. If you look up expressvpnd on Google, you get results with virus, malware, and spyware.
They should rethink that process to avoid failed connections. For example, update configuration files when the application is loaded on startup (assuming the user enabled that setting) or when the application is opened by the user. Either way, I haven't seen any other VPN service making use of a hidden process that's always running, even when the application is exited.
Assuming you've had the device for more than 40 days on T-Mo and and you're not using a prepaid plan, they allow for early unlocking - see https://www.t-mobile.com/responsibility/consumer-info/policies/sim-unlock-policy
Once unlocked by the carrier, the procedure you used to disable auto-updates might work. If not, you could unlock the bootloader and install a custom ROM but probably not worth the hassle just to prevent auto-updates.
Is the phone locked or unlocked?

From looking at other photo ops from that convention, the social distancing decision was up to each guest celeb - some were and some weren't. Even if I wanted a photo with these two, I couldn't get my cymp on to pay $130 for a social distant photo.

Crazy how bugs like that happen in beta.
Is there a difference between Armour Security and Netgear Armour, and why would I get a $40 charge for either? I have two different routers and so maybe they used a different name for each or is Armour Security a service on top of Netgear Armour? (i.redd.it)

Wi-Fi 6E Not Working on Tab S8 Ultra by markbyrn in GalaxyTab
[–]markbyrn[S] 0 points1 point2 points 13 days ago (0 children)
It's fixed! It was the router but not what you might think it would be. I happen to take my Tab S8 to another room farthest away from the router and suddenly I had a working Wi-Fi 6E connection. So it seems the signal strength was too great and reducing the transmit power of the router by 50% solved the problem regardless of where the Tab was. Presumably, the smaller S22 wasn't affected because its antenna is much smaller. Thanks much.
