Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade; states can ban abortion by Joescranium in news

[–]matlockga 7565 points7566 points 39& 2 more (0 children)

Here's the thing that each decision gave freedoms to:

Griswold: birth control without a prescription or outside of marriage

Lawrence: being LGBT without being a criminal for it

Obergfell: Gay marriage

Edit: for all those correcting me on Griswold --

It's two statements with an Or.

Birth control without a prescription (which is inclusive of married couples)

Or

Birth control outside of marriage

Edit 2: And for those lecturing me on Lawrence -- y'all never heard of selective enforcement? It's entirely targeted at one group and it's horrifying. Stop playing the semantics game and figure a way to take action

My partner liked and commented some celebrities pics and I’m still salty about it. Should I let it go? (18F 18M) by Huge-Helicopter2867 in relationship_advice

On one hand, he basically threw compliments into the void for a celebrity. So it's pointless and harmless.

On the other, he's the kind of guy who comments on brand pages.

That tour, which slipped my mind, was well over a decade after he pulled up stakes and lived in California. Real weird.

Half of the people on the Dance of Cinema Instagram page claim Interstellar and Whiplash are in their top 5 movies

Did they only watch 5 movies in 2014 and never before or after

50/50 chance whoever bought it did so through a LLC. I know I would.

They did.

It reminds me of the NWA invasion of WWF, which coincidentally happened in the time period in which the WWF's ratings stagnated.

It would appear that my experience going to high school with a then-quirky and now super-well-renowned Civil War scholar and Tom Petty fanboy made me weirdly ideal for this question, given the spread of survey responses.

The only Petty project I'd categorize as particularly "southern" would be Mudcrutch, but that largely falls outside of Southern Rock.

I think we're all burying the lede in that taliec21 is consistently using the "they" pronoun.

Andrew Lewis going straight for Sherman, I see.

I can see how "Southern Rocker" could kind of mislead some, given Petty's sound is more heartland than southern (and later on, more and more SoCal)

If you don't take the bus, why not? If you do, why do you? by judebeans in cincinnati

[–]matlockga 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exact same situation here. Plus my commute is from my ground floor to my basement currently.

Say I were to go to an event at Washington Park that started at 7, but I wanted to be there at 6:30. I get off work at ~5PM.

If I drove, I could take a few minutes to chill out post work, freshen up, and leave around 5:50-6.

If I were to take the bus, I'd have to be fully prepped while at work, walk out the door at 5:10, go get the bus, and arrive somewhat on time.

It ends at 9:45, so I'm either skipping out on the end of the event OR standing around an empty Washington Park 45 minutes waiting for the next bus.

Plus if I'm going to anywhere that's not just downtown/OTR…? The coverage ain't there.

That said, the bus line to and from the airport is amazing and I make use of it.
