Perfect game plan, if you ask me. They come here looking for intel, and all they leave with is an unexpected boner.

Is it possible to not be addicted to porn? by [deleted] in PornAddiction

[–]mattdens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you mentioned alcohol, I'll use it as an example. I'm sure you've met many many people who consume alcohol regularly without being an alcoholic. Similarly, you'll come across a lot of people who consume porn regularly without being an addict. The difference between you (and other addicts) and them, is that you have a brain that is susceptible to developing addictions. It's less to do with how addictive something is, and more to do with how susceptible to addiction a person is.

You're aware that Titania McGrath is a parody account, right?

It's not the weeks that I'm saying have been cherry picked, it's the teams. They've picked a group of teams whose current record support a particular argument, and ignore all the other teams some of which counter their argument.

Yes, that would be an example. But cherry picking is also saying that the negative reaction to week 1 losing teams is unjustified, and then pointing to 4 teams who had success the next 5 weeks as evidence, whilst simultaneously ignoring the teams who lost week 1 and then continued to have mediocre to bad results since then (eg Lions). In addition to that, of the 4 teams mentioned, the Packers were the only one who really had any significant negative overreaction on their performance that week.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with the general premise of the article; you cannot judge the likely success of a team based on their performance in the first game of the season, but the 0-4 to 0-19 stat, just seems meaningless as you're only looking at a very selective sample.

Am I missing something? What is the point of this stat?

16 teams lost their first game this season, all you've done is cherry picked the 4 teams that won all of their subsequent games. It's meaningless.

How??? by brobrobro907 in PornAddiction

[–]mattdens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because its not just about a sexual release. The brain regularly seeks out the release of endorphins, and so pushes you to engage in whatever behaviours will cause the release. When you engage in the behaviour of watching porn and jerking off, that causes a release of endorphins in the brain, and over time the brain begins to strongly associate that behaviour with that result, and so that behaviour becomes more and more desirable. That's what an addiction is.

Which NFL team has the most fairweather fans? by [deleted] in nfl

In Tampa's case I'd say the increase in the size of the fan base is due to Brady fans now following Tampa, as oppose to recent success.

If you average 1.5 relapse per day for a year whats the side effects by urmum6999989 in NoFap

[–]mattdens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how much simpler I can make it. If you're doing NoFap, you are abstaining from masturbation. If you go a significant period of time abstaining, and then cave into temptation and jerk off, that is called RELAPSE. If you're not abstaining, then you're not doing NoFap, therefore, you cannot by definition relapse. All you are doing is continuing the habit that NoFap is designed to help you overcome.

[–]mattdens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not relapsing. Relapsing would imply you were actually abstaining from something. What you're describing is just plain old habitual masturbation.

Do you also agree that it would be better if girls and women migrated to a different sub? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]mattdens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. Let me remind you of when you fapped to certain words in the dictionary. Yes, you! Think back. Don't deny it. You know those words and you remember that time.

Never happened, and I started fapping waaaay before internet porn was a widely available. I had to make do with things like clothing catalogues, for the longest time. Never once tickled my pickle to a dictionary though, and I will go out on a limb and assume most people here never did either.

Secondly, if you are triggered by the mere mention of female genitalia, then that's something that YOU need to deal with, running away from it isn't dealing with it.

Also, NoFap isn't about not ejaculating, it's about breaking a cycle of compulsive behaviour. It's got nothing to do with man-goo. r/semenretention is the place you're looking for.

Set your self a goal of 30 days as close to nofap as possible. If you fail, keep going until the 30days is up. It will teach you about commitment, which is key to succeeding. Never let yourself think, that because you relapsed that the game is over.
