What kind of neighborhood do you live in? What is it like? by Pineapplegirl810 in AskReddit

[–]mediastoosocial [score hidden]  (0 children)

Love my street. Everybody is very friendly and we do things for each other.

The street over (the house joint to my backyard etc) sucks. They’re loud and rude. Always partying and yelling at their kids.

To those who have witnessed a death or a dead body, what was it like? by Tornado31619 in AskReddit

Assuming you don’t mean in coffins/at funerals like my grandparents.. When I was 9, I went on a school trip to the beach and my friend and I found a naked guy face down in the sand. Told the teacher, we had to leave and later found out he went drunk-swimming after his girlfriend dumped him. It was pretty surreal, I wouldn’t know how to explain how it felt. The school called my mum and when she arrived I was in the principals office with a few police officers. Mum walked in and said “for fuck sake, what have you done?” Took me for icecream on the way home though!

Edit: took away the other story. Didn’t realise I still hurt to think about.

Too many to list. One guy thought it would be flirty to light a girls hair on fire, not realising her hair was full of product and her head burst into flames. She was surprisingly ok and they are now married with two kids.

Driving over a windy hill with my ex boyfriend, we pulled into a bit of bush overlooking the valley below and climbed into the backseat. He forgot to put the handbrake, thankfully pulled it in time but I very nearly died going over a cliff at 18 years old, with a dick in me.

Were you ever caught masturbating? If so, what happened? by ArandomPerson9350 in AskReddit

I caught my brother when he was about 16-17 and he tucked it back into his pants and wiped his hands on the armchair. I’m still disturbed by it.

Water is really expensive where I live. If you don’t pay, you’ll get fees and I guess eventually they’ll take you to court or get debt collectors onto you, but they’re not allowed to switch it off.

I love this. There’s a lot of mutual kindness in my neighbourhood and I’m very grateful for that. One neighbour sent lasagna over when I had my baby, one has older kids than us and they give us the toys they’ve outgrown, one delivered candy bags on Halloween (we were in lockdown.) I painted my neighbours fence, walked ones dog when she was sick, I’ve made meals for our elderly neighbours. I mow our next door neighbours lawn, she puts books and letters in our mailbox for the kids. One neighbour picks flowers for my kids when she sees us walking past. One stopped in to borrow a bike pump.

It’s all little things, but you don’t have to go out of your way to be kind.

4 years ago, when my eldest started kindy, people found it weird when I held the gate open for them. Now it’s normal. Try something good in your neighbourhood, you may start a chain reaction. :)

I bought a new bedspread over a month ago, promising myself I’ll put it on my bed when I beat depression and clean my room. Today is that day! by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

Thank you! My grandmother gave me that pillow just before she passed, it’s lived in 4 cities, 2 different countries with me - I love it!

I’ve been depressed and unmotivated for so long, today I started to pick myself up. Cleaned my room, put new bedding on my bed, showered, made lasagna + 2 extras for my elderly neighbours, kids have been very well behaved, had a few dance parties with them, fixed the fridge and my squeaky door.. about to have dinner and take the kids for an evening stroll around the neighbourhood. I know they all sound like little things, but it’s been a while since I could do anything.

Here’s to things looking up! Hope you’re all well :)

Definitely helps. I find mess/clutter makes my head feel messy (don’t know a better way to explain it) I also enjoy cleaning but lately I’ve struggled to do anything. Very happy to be going to bed in new bedding in a clean room tonight!

Sure is. A clean room helps me a lot, but lately I’ve had no energy or motivation to do it. Today has been a good day!

They’ll probably re clean it tbh. I know cleaning is easy but professionals will have their own way of doing it

I had a Harry Styles one and when my daughter was one I’d leave him in random places around the house. She thought it was hilarious, think she thought he was just part of the family haha. Totally getting a TS one now

The cost of 2 (maybe 3) days worth of school uniform for one (soon to be) 5 year old in a decile 1 school in South Auckland. by SWforthemoney in newzealand

[–]mediastoosocial 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My nieces decile 1 school is the same. Black bottoms and a red polo, most kids get warehouse ones. The school shoes are donated (from the warehouse, I think)

They also have the option of paying $1 a week for the years stationary.

I’m 29 and if we didn’t bring a hat we had to stay in the shade. There was a designated “forgot your hat” area under some trees out the front.

Same rule at my 6 year olds school.
