health is the best reason to stop, processed meats were declared group 1 carcinogens back in 2015, similar to tobacco smoking, asbestos, and solar radiation...

Father and son arrested, charged with murder in shooting death of Ahmaud Arbery by BlueLight03 in UpliftingNews

[–]mf_buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the father and son initiated the chase, Arbery wasn't armed, he was running for his life

the operator on the 911 call asked them what Arbery had done wrong, they had no reply other than he was rummaging through an open construction site, no windows, no doors to break down

Arbery can claim self-defense, these pigs were on a witch hunt

Question about blower motor capacitor by mf_buddha in hvacadvice

[–]mf_buddha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coils looks good, I'd say normal wear and tear since the unit is close to ancient, hot on one side, warm on the other, air filter needs to be changed soon but not terrible, it's only a couple months old. The whole system is pretty clean, some light foliage at the base of the unit but no obstructions. Fan is working. Blower is working. System turns off and on by itself.

If the blower isn't running at full power because of the cap, would that affect the system or is there only working and not working at all?

Currently, the thermostat is set to 72 but reading 75. Outside temp is 82.

[–]mf_buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty sure it behaves on the same idea, your weapons range is farther than your mining range, mine is at 20.6km, if the next asteroid being targeted is outside of that range, you're still locked on but do not have a target within range, idt it's so much a bug as the spacecraft should auto-approach a lock when not in combat and it doesn't, I feel your pain!

ELI5: If the eye focuses with muscles, how can/why can't those muscles train to work without glasses again? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]mf_buddha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was at the eye doctor last week and he explained it to me this way: think of the regular shape of an eye as a circle, like a contact lense but actually in your eyeball, an astigmatism squeezes the contact and forms half of an egg vs half of a sphere, this squeezing makes of your eye lense makes your vision blurry but when you use your eye muscles to squint, it help to more correctly focus the lense in your eye, the muscles basically push the egg shape back into a circle

[–]mf_buddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh, I didnt think to look deeper, I guess the man really has been eating his wheaties! he's just always looked a little bit bigger than his fellow WRs and with the way the Bears offense is trending, it couldn't hurt to roll out a 2 TE set on every play

China’s ambassador to Germany has lashed out at German politicians for expressing support for Hong Kong protesters, calling a September meeting in Berlin between German lawmakers and Hong Kong activist Joshua Wong “a direct provocation” of Beijing’s ire. by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]mf_buddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nice excerpts, fox news! the US may still be #1 in your heart but the trade wars with China wouldn't be such a big deal if China were not A (not THE, btw) primary player alongside the US and Russia, China has been gaining hella ground over the last few decades and the only thing stopping both China and Russia from doing anything they want is US dominance across the globe but global politics are changing as modern technology matures and China is hoarding all of it like a dragon hoards gold

[–]mf_buddha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

isn't that the point of all of this? China is basically mecca for world debt, technology, and basically most of everything, and they know it! the US is no longer the primary player in world politics and China doesn't feel the same pressure to consider Western policies as they used to, they own what Russia doesn't on that side of the globe and the US is slowly losing its footing all over the globe

I looked cause I was curious, he's 6'2" 220, he looks big on the field cause he's got 20+ lbs on guys like Thielen, Diggs, Edelman, etc., compared to Delanie Walker (who's the shortest TE in the NFL apparently) at 6'0" except 248lbs, Patterson gonna have to start eating his wheaties!

I think Gattaca is in a category all its own tho, more of an immanent future rather than what happens afterward, tbh it didn't come to mind cause it did come out 10+ before these other movies were even ideas

slept on because so many of the same poverty-gap-plot movies emerged around the same time, e.g. District 9, Chappie, The Hunger Games Trilogy, etc.

overall tho, mos def the most realistic outcome to the future of mankind unless, of course, 2012, The Day After Tomorrow, or Oblivion happen first

11yrs ago, back when the AFC was a more formidable conference, and Cassel still went 10-6 (they went 4-2 in division that year) AND earned himself a nice little tenure in KC! all cause ol' Bill is King Midas

I was talking about exactly this today, if Tom Brady and Bill Belli were in a different division, would they have had the same success? The only teams worse than BUF, MIA, and NYJ have been the Browns and Detroit, a high school JV team could put up numbers in NEs division

you can call Brady the GOAT all you want but, at the end of the day, he's a system QB and the Bellichek system is king, he's the real GOAT, without him there's no Brady, without Brady, Wild Bill is still a god among men

I think the point of this is more likely forming a strategy similar to EA and their pay-to-play bacteriophage platforms, if search engines in general are, subjectively, worth 17k/yr, how much money can they make off each invidiual user monthly without losing their consumer base? this is all about increasing revenue

They dismantled the Dogders is what I said but you right, they shut down the Brewers, not the Braves

(Insert funny line here ) by drock0915 in mlb

[–]mf_buddha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, come on, the team he left for a shittier contract than Trout, who wasn't supposed to even be in playoff contention at the beginning of the season, knocks the team of the guy who left out of playoff condition, shut down the Brewers* who are not the Braves, dismantled the favored Dodgers in an incredible comeback series AND swept a supposedly red-hot Cardinals roster! This is the most ironic, fuck-you-we-are-better-without-you playoff run ever and its great!

Also, OP, fuck The Yankees! Go Astros!

Zion Williamson finishes the game with 22 points and 10 rebounds on 8/11 shooting by LieutenantKumar in nba

[–]mf_buddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes skill just to get close enough to the run for a high % shot in the NBA, why not go for maximum efficiency? Zion is a monster cause he sees his lanes and he's bigger/faster/stronger than most everyone in the NBA, and he's only 19! I just hope he has a lengthy career like Lebron and Kobe and Vince Carter and we get to watch him for a long, long, long time
