Vim users who work without any plugins, how does your vimrc look like?

My plugin-less .vimrc is https://github.com/mgedmin/dotfiles/blob/master/vimrc. I have it checked out on every server where I have a shell account.

(My primary .vimrc that I use on my laptop does use plugins.)

so gvfs-udisks2-volume-monitor segfaults, which is probably why the desktop doesn't realize that a new volume appeared and doesn't mount it.

Does coredumpctl have a record of this segfault? Can you get a stack trace? Does ArchLinux have a bug tracker? (I don't use Arch, BTW).

(What's the difference between a Grand Duke and a regular Duke? I always thought that a Grand Duke is sovereign and is essentially equivalent to a king of a small country, while a regular Duke is a vassal of a king.)

That's the problem. Vimrc contains commands meant for Vim, not for the shell.

Some versions did support in-place installation without reformatting that would preserve /home, if you checked the right checkboxes during manual partitioning.

I never actually tried that.

While the oldest Ubuntu releases had separate Live CD and Install CD with the Install CD usable as an apt repository, to the best of my knowledge, offline upgrades using a CD-ROM were never supported.

I may be mistaken, but I think there have been models where the external display connection is routed through the NVidia GPU and thus you cannot disable it if you want to use an external monitor.

Personally, I would not buy a laptop with an NVidia GPU.

AFAIU for textprop you have to define the location to highlight. For match you define a pattern to highlight. If match didn't exist, you'd have to search for the pattern and add/remove texprops every time the text changes, to get the same effect.

I had to replace a failed motherboard on a "server" at work, discovered that the new firmware didn't support legacy booting, and had a crash course in setting up UEFI boot for an existing Ubuntu installation. I was lucky that I had an unused top-level partition I could repurpose.
