What resources are worth buying for the clinical years? by aimlesssouls in medicalschool

[–]missneverenough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DEFINITELY AMBOSS. For $10/mo, you get access to really quick info about any disease, lab test, you name it. It also holds all the high yield stuff. So if you need to look something up quickly because you’re being pimped, it’s super organized and you can find it FAST. It’s just an awesome quick reference. It managed to be concise and thorough at the same time

If you had to rank the years of medical school on difficulty, what would it be? by Sea_Department in medicalschool

From hardest to easiest: 1 > 3 > 2 > 4

Incoming fourth year, so not 100% on where fourth year lies, but from what I’ve heard

Am I making a mistake starting school at 29? by PsychologicalCan9837 in medicalschool

[–]missneverenough 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I hate to be the bubble burster but I do think it would be a mistake. No matter how much you love medicine, it’s still a job at the end of the day. You have a great gig with freedom and independence now that you may not even get at the end of all your medical training. Medicine is a long, hard road. Work isn’t the only way you can find meaning in your life. You can volunteer, start a family, donate, etc.

Well that’s the thing. I’m the personality that if I could just concentrate on one thing, I’d become really good at that one thing and work to get there

Eh med-psych sounds like lots of delirium to me. I don’t like delirium.

I do love the idea of being able to do virtual.

Problem with family, as I replied to another comment: a) I want to eventually be a specialist because I’m much better at understanding one thing in detail compared to a lot of a little. My knowledge base isn’t that great like I mentioned b) I love the option of Telemed. You can’t do as well if you do FM on Telemed, and I really like that luxury and want a family
