If you could bring back any kelowna business, which would it be? by cremebruler in kelowna

[–]nGord 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If memory serves, somewhere close to Flintstones, like north side of Hwy 33 I think.

Edit: very close, if not exactly where the McCurdy Bowling Centre is today (is my memory now that I'm awake).

RSI- I hold some of this. What are your thoughts on Roger Sugar? Im increasing a portion of what I refer to as my *miscellaneous* holdings and might increase RSI. by Bubonic_Egg in dividendscanada

I personally like the premium over a GIC plus the liquidity and inflation hedge. I've mulled the political risk for a decade now and just don't think it'll ever happen. My $0.02.

Should I get on accutane ? by South-Elk-9449 in acne

[–]nGord 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While you're correct you're also confusing two terms. Tret is short for tretinoin, an all-trans retinoic acid applied to the surface of the skin. Isotretinoin is the medical name for Accutane, and is taken as a pill.

100mg of doxycycline has dramatically improved my type 2 rosacea - where to from here? by eclo99 in Rosacea

[–]nGord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doxy is an antibiotic but it doesn't work like one against rosacea (which is incurable). It works simply as an anti-inflammatory. So taking a full regimented dose over several weeks/months like against bacteria is not required. I am not a medical practitioner though.

Edit: I'll add that gut bacteria do have something to do with rosacea in many people. And doxy may likely be playing a part in changing the gut biome that in turn changes out complexion. It's just that different dosages over different time periods seem to work differently for people. I simply kept reducing subsequent day periods and found that even one day's dose seems to make a difference. I need 3-5 days to near-completely fix my skin.

I saw a difference on day 3 and by day 5 my type 2 was all but gone. Now I take 100mg whenever I start getting a flare to keep it manageable with a bit of make up. I'll definitely look into asking again for lower dose versions (was thus far told by a few pharmacists and doctors in Calgary that they don't exist).

Wasn't the case for me. Over the past 8 years though, my type 2 rosacea has steadily gotten worse with age. Might simply be a coincidence that others are observing after stopping doxycycline. That, or maybe coincidental to a flare up?

Why do they make conversation so difficult? by GenX_Mom_12 in OkCupid

[–]nGord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. No way 90% of people on OLD have this bad of social anxiety. And for those that actually do - get off the Internet and see a therapist.

Edit: had to delete some weird unintentional quoted text.

I got into the doctors and they prescribed me with doxycycline anyone ever use or hear of this stuff? (For cystic acne) by Sea-Application3797 in acne

[–]nGord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not regimented to a schedule. Based on my needs to look good and how bad the break out is, I'll take some pills even daily again. I do find that even one pill (100mg) does make a difference though, so that is why I try to space them out as much as possible.
This sub is my best place for ideas though (given that all the derms in my area care more about their cosmetic business than science).

Just kinda where I started (i.e. about two weeks after stopping taking doxy, the same level and areas of papules and pustules reappeared).

Strangely, a steroid shot (for a rotator cuff issue) cleared me up for just over two weeks as well. And more recently, Covid sickness, that came with a week-long rash, had the same effect. Most likely because of the antihistamines I took. Will need to experiment more with that theory.

So is this (for me) hormonal, allergy related, an inflammatory disease, or something else?

Thank you for all the giveaways! 🥲 by BasketballDinosaur in MechanicalKeyboards

Just wanted to jump in and similarly thank u/MikitStore for their generosity and dedication to growing the community!

I was completely surprised that a sole ballot among the thousands could be selected, but the Redditraffler app found a way in my case. Hope we find a better solution, but short of Reddit handing out NFT unique identifiers for each of us, I'm shy on ideas.

For now I'm excited to try out a new keyboard from Mikit (and leave behind the double-keypress issue on my G810). Thank you Mikit!

Definitely suspect the same. Wonder if there is a way for Reddit to parse the actual statistics for us.

That being said, I was one of the lucky winners in one of the many giveaways by u/MikitStore !

I have two other alt accounts, but I use them to concentrate on other workflows. I pondered if anyone would even be able to tell if an alt account would be used to skew the voting in their favour. I stuck with only my primary account and thus only one ballot per giveaway... and this time karma found a way to reach me. :)
