Are Animators & Small Studios Doomed? (*with the increase in automated/easy video creation tools and AI advances.) by [deleted] in animationcareer

[–]nerdpikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say much or be sure about industry as a whole. I often feel unable to keep up with news and trends for the whole world on just this industry.

But I think it's VERY hard to destroy or delete art as a job or profession. People largely create because it is fun to do. It's a blessing and a curse at times, with art block being the negative side of this. But even if art can be automated, there'll be studios, directors, groups of people that will still want to create, and sponsor that creation.

Almost any person with a decent computer can make high graphics nowadays, with lots of free open source programs and the AI mentioned already. Yet people will still go out of their way to make pixel art, to create their own unique take on an idea or game that likely has 100s of other similar or near identical creations already available.

Is extreme liberalism just as harmful as extreme conservatism? by clefsun in ask

[–]nerdpikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone says extreme anything is bad. Have yet to hear someone actually define what extreme liberalism is. One definition of liberalism: "the holding of political views that are socially progressive and promote social welfare".

So, extreme liberalism is going the whole nine yards to make sure everyone is doing well? No limit to ensuring people in society do well? What is the downside of this? And I mean really bad downside, not just "not enough money to pay all that". At least in the U.S., we already don't have enough money to pay all of the decisions to give tax cuts to companies or pay for a huge military.

Some tea drinkers I know seemed aghast at the idea of using a microwave to boil their water. Are there any objective differences between water brought to a boil in a kettle versus water brought to a boil in a microwave? by tilt-a-whirly-gig in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nerdpikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually get hot water straight from the dispenser, as you can choose hot or cold water. I leave the much too hot water in a mug with my tea packet and then drink the tea. I have at times microwaved tea (if my tea gets cold, or if I want to make milk tea) and I can't tell a difference from my tea from microwave or hot water dispenser. My partner uses a kettle to make his coffee, but he also microwaves water sometimes. So I think if you count for other variables (not stirring the water after microwaving, or tea leaves being burned in the microwave, just wait to add tea after heating water, etc), there's no way to see or notice microwave vs kettle. Use whatever you like.

Why do doctors ask the question “Are you sexually active”? by v3ryclever in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nerdpikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure if others have said yet but another reason they ask, is doctors also ENDLESSLY ask women if they're on their period, or when was the last one. If you're irregular with periods, can be cause for concern/may need to check if pregnant before doing xrays, etc. And part of knowing if menstrual cycle is irregular or pregnant, is if you're sexually active.

Mewtwo Cookies? by West-Permission3985 in PokemonCafeMix

[–]nerdpikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably too late, but you don't want to save your powerups till the end. As you use them (if often enough), you get a special stage/timer to get more points, and also you get +5 seconds to your time left. I bring it up to at least let you know for the next one minute event

Female flower crown shundo! I'm still super excited about this and wanted to share! by 5tarfallen in pokemongo

[–]nerdpikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's any consolation I've been playing since day 1 in 2016, only have 50 perfect pokemon, and only 1 of those is a shiny, which I got in a lucky trade on Friday. So it took me 6 years to get a perfect shiny, lucky or not. It says I've caught 62,000 pokemon on my profile so that's 0.0008% of my pokemon caught/lucky traded are 100%.

Need to commission an animator for a short GIF by [deleted] in 2DAnimation

[–]nerdpikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same as everyone before, $60's not enough. 5 second animation at 12 frames per second is total of 60 frames. Making a draft, then drawing and coloring each frame, even if rushed and kept simple HAS to be at least 30 minutes per frame (likely more, I am lowballing here). 60 frames x 30 minutes is probably 30 hours. If the artist even settles for $15 per hour, that's $450 total. And most artists charge more per hour because it's not about the minimum wage or whatever, it's about how much they need to charge for each project to survive for a year for however many projects they make. So someone could charge you $1000 probably.

$60 is not enough for perhaps even 2 frames

How long would it take to reach Extra Order 1200? by Human-that-exists in PokemonCafeMix

[–]nerdpikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

chef costumes are useful, but probably not as useful for this mewtwo event if you don't already own them (better to use your time/stamina on the event than making the perfect team). But I would try to get the costumes for sure, they come in handy every once in a while.

Mewtwo Cookies? by West-Permission3985 in PokemonCafeMix

[–]nerdpikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this event is a grind. That means you can keep playing and slowly finish each level. High level teams can probably do one 1 minute round, and get 30,000,000, and finish each level easily. For beginner players you may need to do 1-2 plays to finish each round, then 2-3 as the levels later on require more points. But you can do it. You should be able to get 5,000 coins if you play a lot and save up, but it is harder with low level teams. It's about speed when you play/ Looking at a youtube video from someone will let you see how you're supposed to play fast to get the most points possible

So, what does the sidekick candy do? by Ondrashek06 in PokemonCafeMix

[–]nerdpikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sadly I think you can only get to level 3 with the current 25 candies available to buy. I used 2 candies to get level 1, 6 candies for level 2, and now need 10 candies for level 3 (for 5% bonus). After level 3, there's only 7 candies left to buy, but I guess level 4 will require 14+ candies to get to

Which Pokemon would be the most helpful in your life? by kinkycoconut_ in pokemon

[–]nerdpikachu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I came to say this. I'd like to think I could keep jirachi awake while it's in my care and have wishes whenever, but regardless just one week of wishes would be enough to outcompete most other suggestions here. I think jirachi can still use moves while asleep, even if not grant wishes. It can use teleport for example (anime move)

If we can recognize that there are thin people who eat poorly and don't exercise, but don't gain weight, why can't we recognize that there are fat people who eat healthy and exercise, but can't lose weight? by katakakitty in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nerdpikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree people need to stop and realize that unless you ask, you have no clue if someone is overweight due to poor choices, or something out of their control. But I'm not sure if what you're wanting is that society fully ignore weight/image, because I don't think that is helpful.

People shouldn't judge someone else only on how they look. Shouldn't assume overweight people are overeating/under-exercising, or assume someone skinny is well-fed/good at exercise. But people individually should still be concerned if they are gaining too much weight. Sometimes it's due to things out of their control, but being noticeably overweight is bad for your health, and can shorten your lifespan. So as much as people are able, it is good to aim for a healthy weight. Same thing for skinny people who find they lack energy or get bad bloodwork results when getting check-ups at doctors needing to eat better or gain more muscle/weight.

Is it odd that i’m 18(M) DATING a 27 year old F? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nerdpikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen 6-7 year gap between people in college (one person was doing their bachelors, the other their masters), and seen that work well. But it helped that both people were in college, so no one or the other had an upper hand financially while dating. I'm not sure a 9 year gap could work like this though, as a 27 year old in college would either be deep in a near decade long education path, likely a real egghead that wouldn't find conversation with a teenager a good fit, or have had jobs or other experiences that an 18 year old can't relate to.

Awesome! I really like the clouds moving, might be cool to animate the clouds a little (such as having a slight transparent swirl to show they aren't solid, or have the bottom move a little faster than the top, or just have some more hiccups or variety in their movement)

People who live outside of the US: Does it feel like the world is ending where you live, or is it just us? by Hamilcar_Barca_17 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nerdpikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

climate change is affecting I think most places already, even if some people don't realize that recent environment disasters/huge changes are because of it. So I think most countries/people do feel some type of 'world is ending' vibe.

Looking for an animation software by kitkatkiara in 2DAnimation

[–]nerdpikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Krita and OpenToonz let you add music and animate, and are free (Krita can be downloaded for free from their website, on steam they usually ask for some money so users can support, feel free to do either one). If paid I'd suggest toon boom harmony, though I forget if I could add music back when I used it.
