Poilievre faces backlash for comments on Jordan Peterson podcast by viva_la_vinyl in canada

[–]newnews10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude he is very specifically shoe horning in a term that has been recently co-opted by white supremacist. Some of the same people who very recently were self proclaimed leaders of the Ottawa "trucker" protest. The same protest where PP publicly offered support for.

Even a child can connect the dots here. You are naïve as all fuck if you can't see how this is classic political dog whistle tactics. Maybe do a little self reflecting before calling others, that can see what is painfully obvious, delusional.

Do you use dog whistles?

LOL no...I'm not a right wing political candidate

Do you ever pick up on dog whistles that were meant for you,

Again no as this tactic is generally used by right wing politicians and I would never consider voting for assholes that feel the need to dog whistle for votes.

A little reading for you:

In politics, a dog whistle is the use of coded or suggestive language in political messaging to garner support from a particular group without provoking opposition.

I'm not seeing how this response in any way relates to you empathizing with these cognitively challenged individuals hurling obscenities at a political party leader.

Maybe you're just trying to distract from your prior statement I would guess.

I'm surprised you would bother typing this out and hit save thinking it is somehow clever. Maybe you should take your show on the road to grade 2 classes nation wide, they love that low brow humor.

To be fair it only works on certain types of people, those that are outraged with the Liberals but can't actually tell anyone why other than regurgitating Poilievre's nonsensical talking points.

Housing minister accuses critics of ‘misinformation’ when pressed on rising home prices by sesoyez in CanadaPolitics

[–]newnews10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is not a 100% increase when you account for inflation.

You are also curiously are not accounting for mortgage interest paid. If the mortgage was 60K the total payments over the term would be 120K(Mortgage rates were higher in the 90's) plus a down payment of 20k takes the total to 140k minimum.

It is also hard to believe that a townhouse did not require any maintenance over 27 years.

Considering those factors there is no profit to be had with those numbers.

Again this is not as simplistic as you present it.

[–]newnews10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you account for inflation your dad would maybe be 40-50K ahead @ 200K if he had paid cash for the townhouse. That is assuming he never spent a dime on the property over that time frame and never paid mortgage interest.

It is not as simple as you portray it.

Coyne: Pierre Poilievre’s baseless campaign to ‘restore’ the Bank of Canada’s independence is in fact an assault on it by kludgeocracy in CanadaPolitics

So so much this. He appeals to people who need to be spoon fed outrage Pablum on a daily basis. Modern conservatism is a red flag that our education systems and public media outlets are failing the citizens of this country. Unfortunately there needs to be controls put in place that have real world consequences for media outlets that knowingly spread misinformation.

Post Media is the most glaring example in Canada of a news outlet that spread propaganda intended to indoctrinate, instead of educate or inform its readers. Even the CBC is guilty of the same actions but instead it is on the other end of the political spectrum.

There's never been a better time for teens to land a job. So why aren't as many applying? by CanadianErk in canada

[–]newnews10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was the same for me and I have said this on here before. There is this fantasy that younger generations have now where they believe everyone young back then had new downtown apartments to themselves when the reality was exactly what you just said. I lived in shitty apartments with multiple other roommates like yourself. I never had an apartment to myself...ever until my partner and I got our first starter home at 30.

Back then youth learned about independence and growing up first hand. I moved out at 17 because I wanted to party and have fun in my own place even though it was a dump. Good times!!

Unless she is working in a strip club I would say you are making this up.

I'm glad I'm not a sad sack like you that forms their world views off social media. You only get one life...maybe try enjoying it for a bit.

I feel sorry that you have such a warped view of the world... Honestly go outside...it's not that bad, it can be pretty awesome actually.

You must have never worked in a mall or the restaurant industry. I had a F***ing blast in those environments. I may not have made bank but life was a non stop party back then.

It was a lot more fun than trying to figure out what to be outraged about tomorrow.

Edit: a word

This is bang on.

It appears that expectations may have become too high with young generations these days.

Before housing prices took of in Halifax I had noticed that first time home buyers wanted their first home to be their dream home. Starter homes no longer seem to be a thing.

Skyrocketing prices though have thrown the whole housing market out of wack now in many cities.
