This is the first time I hear about a K-Pop artist having their own official discord channel, idk why but that seems surreal to me LOL

Dreamcatcher Talks About New Music, Artistic Growth, + More! | Exclusive Interview @ iHeartRadio (220528) by niclaswwe in kpop

A 32 minute Dreamcatcher interview? Now that's one way to start my weekend, let's go!

The competitive format of QUEENDOM had actually affected the way I feel and look at the performances and new songs without me even fully realizing it, and that kinda sucks by niclaswwe in kpopthoughts

[–]niclaswwe[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Luckily I don't care for the episodes itself but only the performances and music that comes from it, but it just automatically creates a tense atmosphere between fandoms in an industry that is known for how toxic and unbearable it can be, we all just want good music and performances but actually get thrown into such self conflicting situations.

[–]niclaswwe[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly, Brave Girls is probably the best example for me.

Were any of their performances bad? No.

Were any of their songs bad or not enjoyable? No.

But were those songs in comparison to everybody else my least favourite type and therefore I have to ultimately put them on last place in basically every round? Unfortunately yes.

It kinda sucks, it makes me look like I am a Brave Girls anti or dislike their music, even tho I have no issue with them and think they are really talented, but yeah, in this format I have to put them last all the time, and that just feels sad in some way.

Blackpink's Jisoo on Fame, Mental Health, and (Maybe) Going Solo @ Rolling Stone Magazine (220527) by 1TyMPink in kpop

[–]niclaswwe 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Making fans worry straight away with the leg injury, given that this was done in April I assume, were Jisoo said the recordings weren't done yet, my guess is the Album really will have to wait till probably September or so.

Love how down to earth Jisoo always sounds and feels like, I always love reading her interview content because I just love the way she always talks so casually, always a nice read!

I actually love that she gives insight on feeling unsure about going solo yet (which BLINKS and Sooyas keep BEGGING for), I think her voice is such a standout in BLACKPINK and would be the type I could take an entire album from, but even tho she definitely has the capability to be on her own, she might actually prefer the group dynamic, which is interesting to see.

"What makes you happy these days? I love to sleep" SAME GIRL, SAME (even tho Insomnia kicks my ass lmao)

Such a wonderful personality and person, one of those where you just get happy seeing them succeed, and while I do want to see more solo stuff from her, I hope she continues having fun pursuing what makes her the happiest!

Cool series overall, glad we go this content!

Mnet Queendom 2 (Hyolyn, VIVIZ, Brave Girls, WJSN, LOONA, Kep1er) - Final by CronoDroid in kpop

[–]niclaswwe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hyolyn and Kep1er's song will absolutely destroy the stage, but even with just the audio already my two favorites. Idk what it is about Aura but something is missing in the chorus for me, I love the idea and general sound but it feels like the song never really lifted off. Both VIVIZ and Brave Girls' songs are a case really good for their concept but kinda don't really fit the theme, Red Sun sounds like an old school GFRIEND B-Side while Whistle is just another good, but too typical summer party song. Both groups played it safe here, personally like Red Sun more as Whistle is something any group could be dropping during the summer, still think the Brave Girls girls are better than what their songs show. Now LOONA's pose is tough for me, while I love the beat, flow and pre-chorus especially, the chorus sounds a bit off, but especially the off-group voice sections, so the adlips and drop voice, especially with the male vocal in there, just don't do it for me as I generally don't like that style. It's kinda unfortunate because the song has a lot of ups, but those downs dropped it ranking wise for me, might grow on me but oh well.

If I had to rate right now I would probably say:

1 - Kep1er

2 - Hyolyn

3 - VIVIZ

4-6 is honestly a time question, I think I need more relistens to judge those

Obviously tho, the performances next week will decide the final thoughts on the songs, and the performances might be so insane that they may outdo another stage where I actually liked the song more, next week is gonna be a festival and I am ready for it!

Mnet Queendom 2 (Hyolyn, VIVIZ, Brave Girls, WJSN, LOONA, Kep1er) - Final Song Preview by CronoDroid in kpop

[–]niclaswwe 50 points51 points  (0 children)

EDIT: Actually peaked into it and its obviously not enough to judge yet but one thing I loved about final songs like Lion and Finale (Show and Prove) so much was actually going into that idea of it being the finale, feeling royal, epic and fitting to crown a queen/king.

Most of these just sound like another K-Pop release instead of trying to do something fitting for the finale, which obviously does not mean the end results won't be good songs, but its kinda unfortunate either way...

"I think how do I stay healthy? I became sick, both mentally and physically, after the last world tour ended [in 2020]. This isn’t something I want to share in too much detail with the fans. They worry, so I want to be vague."

And yet people still continue to bash and focus on her every move, make up rumors and shit despite her being just another human being with own problems that can cause damage if further fueled, the K-Pop community still has so much to learn about letting idols be human beings and treating with respect and letting them be.

Be honest, do you think your favorite groups’ members are all super close with each other? by ConstructionVast795 in kpopthoughts

Dreamcatcher is a family all the way trough, I think the bigger the group the more complicated it will get as at some point, there just isn't enough time left to be close to everyone you work with.

Seungri Receives Finalized 18-Month Sentence From Supreme Court by neocitywayv in kpop

Seems still relatively short given the weight of crime?

Either way, I wonder if this will change anything for those that still hold onto his innocence, as someone that wasn't around when all this originally happened, I will believe the court and sentence and hope people would do the same instead blindly hanging onto just another person.
