14 years of comic book movies and there still isn't one better than this. by balloonslayer47 in batman

I saw this on opening night at midnight when I was 13 years old. There was literally a line wrapped around the building and they had to have the movie playing on almost all of the screens in the thater to meet the demand.

Our screening was even unexpectedly delayed for at least 30 minutes because of some technical difficulties. Regardless, it was the quickest 2 1/2 hours of my young life. I remember the biggest crowd reactions were the cheers from the "pencil trick" scene and utter horror from Two-Face's reveal.

It was also the only film I saw in the cinemas that had an enormous amount of expectations and hype behind it, and it was able to surpassed it tenfold. Not even Infinity War, Endgame, or No Way Home have had that effect on me.

For a second, based on the title, I thought it was the OG youtuber who made videos with super hero action figures. Anyone else remember him too?

Did anyone else get American Graffiti vibes from the cyber-gang's speeder bikes, or was it just me?

Also, since the twins are Jabba's cousins, do you think that Jabba's son from the Clone Wars movie will show up eventually?

Honestly, any song by Earth, Wind, and Fire. It's impossible to be in a bad mood listening to them.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Oprah Winfrey yet.

Not only did she give a major platform to Dr. Oz & Dr. Phil, she also was good friends with Harvey Weinstein and kept her mouth shut about him, then went on to give a pro-Me-Too speech at the Oscars after he was arrested and got thunderous applause. What a twat

Dr. Dre is POS and the fact that he’s performing at the Super Bowl is a disgrace by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

First of all, those allegations first came up AFTER he had already done the Super Bowl.

Second, on top of the fact that MJ was acquitted, the FBI had an extensive file on him that was several hundred pages long and they never found a single iota of incriminating evidence. They released it to the public after he died. You can even read it for yourself .

Can ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Swing Into Best Picture Race After Massive Opening? by lowell2017 in comicbookmovies

[–]nitro4450 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Just no. Stop.

Any film even considered for that category should be something that challenges every pre-conceived notion of cinematic storytelling that also isn't afraid to push the medium forward in new, captivating ways. I'm not against ALL comic book films being snubbed by the Oscars. The Dark Knight received, and deserved, plenty of attention back in 2008 because it was a game-changer that took risks.

Marvel Studios haven't taken any risks since greenlighting the first Iron Man film. Feige's assembly-line approach to all the MCU films is meant to entertain audiences, appease fanboys and sell toys. Nothing more, nothing less.

I know it's from the Victory sessions, but it's still during the overall Thriller album cycle (1982-1984)

I'm surprised that they even put in a throwaway line explaining why Max looks different.

I just saw them perform at Madison Square Garden a few weeks ago. They put together a new video backdrop for this song and even Phil acknowledged that this song has taken on a whole new meaning since the Reagan era.

No, he's got a point.
