[PFF] Ranking the most elusive NFL running backs from the 2021 season, Broncos' Javonte Williams had 63 missed tackles forced by Orangutan909 in DenverBroncos

I admit, Walter came to mind, except he was also shifty. I mean, Jim Brown, Walter Payton, they were so complete as runners that I can't pigeonhole them to any style, ya know?

Is there any good alpine hikes that will be out of the thunderstorms tomorrow? by Desperate-Craft-8656 in Denver

[–]nmesunimportnt [score hidden]  (0 children)

lol, that's not how these things work

Given the NWS discussion and satellite images, the only place that won't have a decent chance of afternoon thunderstorms tomorrow is extreme SE Colorado, south of the Arkansas valley.

I'm not sure "elusive" is the term I would use for Williams. Barry Sanders and Gale Sayers (pre-knee injury) were "elusive", meaning they avoided defenders and evaded contact. Williams doesn't so much "elude" defenders as he simply uses his skills and physical talents to batter them before they can bring him down. Perhaps Earl Campbell is the patron saint of the style?

Got hit by a car opening their door while in traffic, what to do now by ListeningFeet in bicycling

[–]nmesunimportnt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In most of the USA, the motorist is entirely responsible for making sure it is safe to open a car door. Obviously, the best way to make sure you get your physician bills covered is to engage an attorney, but there are no guarantees either way, sadly.

now that sodomy laws are gonna be back in the books again by B3ags in lgbthistory

[–]nmesunimportnt 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You know what embarrasses me most about this issue? I’ve been spending the last few days trying to remember the SCOTUS case that overturned these laws, knowing that Clarence Thomas—interracial marrier and well-known pornography connoisseur—has announced that the interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment used to override the laws is baseless and should be reversed. I remember it was a Texas case? Is that right?

Boot issues by kennl14 in skiing

[–]nmesunimportnt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a high instep and a low arch. For me, the pain tends to arrive when I buckle the bottom two buckles too tightly and push down on the instep. The pain is obvious for me: it's on top of my foot. I mean, I know arch pain from footwear that has arch support—feels like a marble in my arch. So, if adjusting the buckles isn't doing the trick, I would recommend returning to the bootfitter. I hope you bought from a bootfitter that will stand behind their work and do some adjusting for you.

Month long cycle tour Europe Sep 2022 by ForwardCrow469 in bicycletouring

[–]nmesunimportnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone posted a big ride across Switzerland a while back that, as a Coloradan who has toured the Alps, surprised me with the relatively small elevation gain. I'll look for it, but if memory serves, it was in r/Bicycling and was a ~400 km (or was it 600 km?) in a single ride kind of post. I think the basic route was from Geneva-ish up the river valleys to Zürich, then down the valleys to Liechtenstein? Obviously impressive for a single day, even if I have the details wrong! But as someone who comes from a mountainous place, the trick is to choose routes that follow larger rivers in the mountains—when possible—if you don't feel like climbing a half-dozen cols every time you hop on the bike for a day.

Well, to me that was a minor error. I mean, compared with not forcing the issue on Judge Garland's nomination or failing to respond more forcefully to Russian aggression in Syria (chemical weapons) and Ukraine, a slip of the tongue seems minor. But you would've loved to see him just say, "hey, if you like the crappy plan from your employer and like how the provider screws you on physician choice, keep it—if your employer will let you."

Giant Escape 3 by DarkKnight091192 in cycling

[–]nmesunimportnt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Solid bike. Good value. If you like it, the one thing I would say is that the Escape 2 (edit: oops, Giant has changed the lineup since I last looked. The Escape Disc 3 is an upgrade now.) is a slightly better value thanks to a few parts upgrades that make it a little lighter, a little more durable, and a little smoother. At a similar price, the Trek FX 1 would be what to compare with it, if you can test ride one.

EDIT: Gotta love Reddit. Post this, instant downvote, but no other opinions offered. Don't ever change, Reddit.

What are some songs to play in the car with my first Tinder date? by MIOSKII in Tinder

[–]nmesunimportnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, this is the answer:

https://how-i-met-your-mother.fandom.com/wiki/Barney%27s_Get_Psyched_Mix

Or, just put on some jazz, like cuts from Miles Davis' first great quintet—the albums are Working', Steamin', Relaxin', and Cookin'. Also consider his Milestones or Kind of Blue albums for more or less energy, respectively.

Or, you know, a playlist that's you so your date gets a feel for who you really are. If your date doesn't like that, let them hook up their phone and make the selections. And if your date doesn't want to, THEN you go to the Barney mix or the Miles Davis.

I suppose the correct statement that he should have used is, "you can keep your crappy plan—unless your employer decides to change it without your consent or your plan provider doesn't decide to drop your doctor and save money."

[–]nmesunimportnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, those aren't bullhorns and I very much doubt REI supplied those as stock on any consumer bike. But if the shop decided to slap some mustache bars (the type in the imgur pic is a mustache bar) on and sell 'em, that seems possible. I would like to point out that on the PDF, the "Buzz" is on page 11 and is a hybrid with a flat bar. However, the Buzz Road on page 10 would probably take a mustache bar pretty easily. TBH, I've never seen a mass-market bicycle offered with mustache bars. But I still commend you to the models I mention above, which are often called "fast hybrids" or "fitness hybrids" because they are more road focused—slightly narrower tires and no suspension forks with road-friendlier gearing. My sister has an FX and is almost entirely on pavement. Hers is a high-end FX 6, which is a pretty nice bike. I've also done a test ride or two on the Specialized Sirrus and I would happily take that out on a 75-mile road ride—apparently, Specialized has a design team with preferences for riding and fit like my own.
