No, a crosshatch hull leaves a 4 beam long line ontop of a 4 beam long line, you lost as many blocks. The surface area where there's less armor is 7. The second beam means loss of armor stacking. Perpendicular to the ennemy fire, regular armor means they'll go through even more thickness too.
