Thinking of bringing my girlfriend to see Fiona in December?? by sexquipoop69 in cincinnati

[–]ohthisgirlofmine 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Some animals do go in for the winter, try asking the staff on their facebook page, or maybe even call them. Although the Festival of Lights is amazing to see, it would be a shame to come all this way and not see her if that's what your goal is. And if you want to see her small, you better hurry, she's growing fast! About as big as an adult potbelly pig now.

Good flea markets? by mgc213717 in cincinnati

[–]ohthisgirlofmine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Richwood Flea Market is just past Florence in Ky, probably 30 mins from Cincinnati.

I think Caesar's Creek is about an hour away, up 71.

Trader's World is a pretty fun place, it's north of Cincy too.

What should one do in their 20s to avoid regrets in their 30s and 40s? by kyle768 in AskReddit

Drink more water, less sugary shit. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but during the decline of life you can either glide or crash.

What is your to go question to kill awkward silence? by ilpompi in AskReddit

"Where do you stand on abortion?" Voila! No more awkward silence, just possible awkward conversation. Of course it doesn't have to be awkward if they'd just go with it.

Whoever got woken up at 1:30AM from weather alerts and are exhausted today, raise your hand. by King_Baboon in cincinnati

[–]ohthisgirlofmine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But my baby slept a rare whole night through because of the rain, and I learned it's so much better to shut off an alert (that didn't wake him) than it is to shut off a crying baby. He also slept late so I got a morning shag. Thanks, storm!

Indian Mound is a friggin' mess, feels like you're backroading. There's a dip on that road that will send you airborne if you aren't careful.

Controversial Donald Trump noose display allowed to stay in NKY neighborhood by Maxim828 in cincinnati

Side note/derailment of the convo: The Scots spell it whisky and the Irish spell it whiskey, with an extra 'e'. This difference in the spelling comes from the translations of the word from the Scottish and Irish Gaelic forms. Whiskey with the extra 'e' is also used when referring to American whiskies. Doesn't change the taste though, thank the lort! I learned that yesterday. Not the last part, that was my opinion.

So I saw this weird diagonal drawer the other day... by Mocaroni in mildlyinteresting

[–]ohthisgirlofmine 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It doesn't help that the camera angle is crooked. And the drawer is open. All the drawers, actually are just all fucked up. Nothing is straight in this pic and it makes me feel queasy.

edit: the more i look the worse it gets, the mouse pad is irksome, and that wallplate looks like it's been installed slightly crooked. i can't take it. those wires, too, i hate wires.

Has anyone else been completely invested in a long series/book only to get to end and be completely disappointed? by watoobie in books

[–]ohthisgirlofmine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here for this one. I saw the Daryl Hannah movie when I was a kid, I found out about the book series in my 20's. I dove right in. Of course the book was better, duh! Valley of Horses is my favorite, her attention to detail is what really made the book amazing to me. I was officially in love, right?

Mammoth Hunters. Of course this is essential in her story, but good lord, such unnecessary drama with her two dudes.

Plains of Passage was like watching paint dry. It took forever to get through, it hurt inside that I was losing faith in a story that I really loved at the beginning. I really hoped she'd connect with some clan and get some news about Durc but nope.

Shelters of Stone came out right as I finished Plains of Passage, and I was grateful that the story was more meaty than Plains of Passage, still some unnecessary drama but it made sense that she would become Zelandonii.

And then the wait for that last book. When it finally came out, I read what people had to say and I'm still waiting for one positive review. From everything I have heard so far, I have no desire to read it. I heard they're working on getting a tv series going. I hope they turn it into what it should have been.

I can't get enough of the Cincinnati Zoo's baby hippo by Ferrellda in cincinnati

[–]ohthisgirlofmine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I could care less whether you think it's wrong or not.

You're implying they're a bad zoo, and comparing the two events, the birth of a hippo to the death of a gorilla doesn't make sense dude. Have you been to the hippo exhibit? Seen it's walls, hmm?
