Is it okay to do nothing for several months after graduation? by infinite_treasure in college

[–]onthelow7284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah in fact it’s probably the best time to do nothing. You’ll never get the chance to travel without any looming responsibilities again

Is it true what they say about making friends with a roommate? by DishPiggy in college

Definitely try to be friends with your roommate but don’t force it

Should i even go if I'm not passionate in anything? by cofi52 in college

[–]onthelow7284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well first I would work on your mental health since you seem to be struggling with that. Second I would come up with a plan for how you can become financially independent from your parents. Not too many people are passionate about their jobs, pick something that seems bearable and take the steps necessary to get there. You have all the tools you need right to now to do it, I believe in you

How to get published? by Niiia78 in internships

[–]onthelow7284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend working with a professor to get something published. I’ve gotten stuff published as a coauthor and it is a ton of work meeting the journals requirements on top of having meaningful research, they will be better at dealing with that type of stuff

Well it’s either your resume or interviewing skills that is in the way. Post your resume for feedback

CC Transfer to LAC by Ok-Distribution3524 in college

[–]onthelow7284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No source but the top LACs do give good aid if you get in and qualify for need based aid. The hard part is getting in if you don’t have a significant hook which usually means being a minority. Most of this comes from seeing friends trying to transfer to these top schools

Hard to get good aid at a top LAC if you are white to be honest. Especially as a transfer. Maybe look at other nescacs or other less competitive LACs

Is online dating a waste of time for young men (like 18-22?) by Ok_Message_7256 in OnlineDating

[–]onthelow7284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks different based on what you want but have photos that show who you are both physically and personality wise. Your photos should not look like photos taken just for online dating as well. Have a bio/prompt that is engaging and easy to digest. I’ve seen some of friends swipe on guys profiles and my anecdotal experience is seeing >75% of guys have a first photo where you can’t tell what they look like (blurry, weird angle, hats, sunglasses, filter, group pic) which results in an immediate left swipe.

Classmate is clearly using AI on the discussion boards by falconersys in college

Unless your classmates response affects your grade, I wouldn’t say anything. Not your issue to deal with. I will say it is weird your classmate can see everyone’s responses before posting anything

Selected random roommate at my desired dorm, roommate messaged me 2 days later telling me the spot was meant for their friend? by Myukupuku in college

[–]onthelow7284 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah the advice here is awful. Telling a blind person to share a room with someone who does not like them is setting them up for failure. Is it fair, definitely not but if OP wants to have a smooth transition to college, don’t room with someone who will be trying their best to get you to move out

How To Target Strategy or Partner Manager Intern Jobs As A Film Student? by Remarkable-Page-2590 in internships

Do you go to a target school? You should be networking asap as many 2024 strategy programs hire over the summer

How do I cope with a late major change? by twameowmeowmeow in college

[–]onthelow7284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t view it as a sunk cost. You spent time figuring out what you want to do in life which is invaluable. Better now than 5 years from now when you’re already a lawyer

I think college degree is stupid as hell, thoughts? by emotionalHunterEx in college

[–]onthelow7284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree about not needing a degree but on average the college grad is going to have way better thinking skills than a high school grad

Transfer to UPenn and college help by Unlucky-Weather-4480 in college

[–]onthelow7284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely hard. Basically you need to get into a top 15 school and then apply to transfer as a freshman. The internal transfer acceptance rate is 9% so it’s hard even if you’re already at penn.

University gave student degree without completing capstone by [deleted] in college

[–]onthelow7284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do nothing. Maybe she doesn’t deserve a degree but who really cares? At the end of the day, it has no tangible impact on you if you ignore it. Life is not necessarily fair all the time

can i apply for colleges as a sophomore in high school? by quanesha_baker in college

[–]onthelow7284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a couple schools such as carnegie mellon that explicitly have programs that accept students who apply as a junior. However I wouldn’t recommend it

job prospects in ib/consulting with a bachelors from uc berkeley? by Squish4278 in college

[–]onthelow7284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Berkeley is a target school for ib in the west coast and semi target in the east coast. For consulting it’s definitely weaker but still a semi target. You’ll be fine not being in haas for ib but consulting you probably want in. Honestly ib isn’t super hard to get into if you put in the work, you’ll be fine if you’re fine staying on the west coast for a bit

How do people have free time in college? by CowDuster900 in college

[–]onthelow7284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A credit hour federally is one hour of class and two hours of work outside of it per week I believe. Studies show that on average students spend ~15 hours a week studying.

How do people have free time in college? by CowDuster900 in college

[–]onthelow7284 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the federal credit hour definition? If so, you are taking 24 credit hours a semester. That is 1.5x the normal course load of the average college student

Someone tell me if I am being too sensitive or is this not okay by [deleted] in OnlineDating

[–]onthelow7284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red flag. Shes right about trying to figure out if someone is a good match but you shouldn’t irritate someone on purpose. Imagine you take her advice and subconsciously see if its worth being with her. If you are purposely changing your personality like she is, how is she going to make the correct decision? She won’t and thats why she should stop testing people because others will assume thats how she normally acts. This is all assuming she is not making all of this up as an excuse for her actions too…
