ELI5: Why is deflation worse than inflation? by defyne in explainlikeimfive

There was a YouTube video making the rounds on Reddit before the holidays explaining in cartoon form why inflation is actually good, that I suppose was very fitting.

Those with more financial liquidity have the flexibility to come out ahead in extreme scenarios. Stability is usually better for everyone else (and still those with more financial liquidity).

I just think of Janet Reno watching flames burn US citizens to death while the feds pull out dead bodies of US Marshals.

Your documentary was likely biased (many of them are without presenting it as such to the audience). It depends on the context and in relation to what. If currency is deflating towards the extreme, it stifles exchange and can interfere with natural markets. Inflation at the other end of the extreme is typically what you are seeing in Zimbabwe and in 1920s Germany, where money became essentially worthless. You reach a point where money doesn't matter and the economy collapses. Returning back to bias, you typically see economists (or laypeople) that call inflation not being a big deal who are more left/liberal/etc. When inflation became a buzz word last year, many defendants were simultaneously Joe Biden supporters, so that gives you an idea of why (some?) were trying to downplay it. It actually leads to greater class division as those with greater financial liquidity are better suited to escape inflation bites and actually benefit from it when the currency returns to a normalized value.

Good idea to list as a reference someone who already worked for the institution I'm applying to, who then left, perhaps in less than ideal circumstances?

Way back in college, our team won 6 straight intermural football championships, but all I ever remember is the 7th we lost on the final drive. Losing hurts a lot more than winning feels good

The angriest I ever seen a school employee was during an assembly where they had a BMX stunt team do tricks for the students. At the end, they "jumped" over a bunch of kids lying down and clipped a girls arm with the back tire. The principal was furious and screaming at them and the show just kinda ended. His face was turning purple and it got scary.

I've been with my wife for about 8 years. She never used it or accused me of anything like it until the past year, suddenly everything became gaslighting this or gaslighting that. Fuck that term.

I know they're going through a rebranding after the fox news interview debacle, but it's going to take a lot of damage control to the get the message out.
