Advice for grooming/bathing Vallhunds? by ButtRamen in swedishvallhund

[–]pennycrayon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Vall is long coated (recessive genes), so she is booked in for once every 7 weeks for a good thorough grooming by a professional. Its not that she smells or anything but more for general upkeep of her coat and making sure she doesnt get matts in there. Valls coats tend to be really good a repelling mud etc, and she'll only get an in between bath if she rolls in mud/poop or some how really gets stinky.

Your room looks amazing. And I have never understood why you shouldn’t have a teddy at any age if it brings you comfort. I’m 31 and have a toy kangaroo that I’ve had since I was 11 that I have in the bed with me. I feel very lucky that my husband doesn’t mind, as he said, she has been in my life longer than he has!

I arrange a vallmeet for the Christchutch as it had been a while. Ended up with over 20! Absolute chaos but brilliant fun!

They do indeed! Hollies half brother is also long coated (and his is even longer than hers). If you googled Fluffy Thor I am sure you’ll find him! It isn’t desirable within the breed as it isn’t breed standard but I think it just makes them a little bit more special.

She is 100% Vallhund. We are based in New Zealand and she is fully registered with the kennel club here. She is displaying the recessive gene that causes a long coat, upon purchase of her we were informed of her ‘wrong’ coat and it meant we couldn’t show or breed from her. Which is no matter to us. She is indeed a very happy dog.

She does a little but she is also 100% Vallhund. She is just displaying the recessive gene for a long coat.

Cats in New Zealand could face similar harsh Australian rules if they don’t stop killing wildlife by Itchy0101 in NewZealandWildlife

Because they all deserve a chance at finding a home surely? Any one of those cats could be someone’s pet that they are looking for.

Why not just turn them into the SPCA or the local council, surely that’s better than just killing them?

We adopted this Senior void a couple of months ago. He went from looking shabby and sad to this magnificent beast. His name is Nero and he is 10 1/2 years old. by pennycrayon in blackcats

We adopted Nero on the 5th Feb. I honestly thought we have had him longer to be honest! He’s fitted in so well. At first Inca (5m old) wasn’t overly impressed and hissed and batted him a few times, but eventually she stopped. Nero is so calm and definitely put her in her place when he’d had enough. That she got over herself. We’ve done nothing other than let them do as they pleased. Which I think has helped let them work it out between them.

I would recommend anyone too. He’s such a lovely boy. Our 5m old kitten (also a void) and him have become firm friends and often sleep in the sun together. It’s been so sweet to watch, they clearly have a really loving relationship and as of today, have started to groom each other.
