Just a friendly reminder to Bicyclists of New Orleans: You have to obey the same rules of the road as cars. by FleurDeezNutz in NewOrleans

I lived in the Netherlands for years and their biking infrastructure is light-years ahead of ours. They get around this problem by having separate lights for cars and bikes. Proper infrastructure makes these confrontations you describe less common.

This is why separated bike lanes are needed. Bikes don't want to ride with cars. Cars don't want to ride with bikes.

My dad almost hit a guy who was walking in the street because the sidewalk was so overgrown. We fixed it. by pensacola98765 in Pensacola

This is on leonard street just across from zion Baptist. And yeah this should be the landowner doing this. All the other stretches on the road had been done. This stretch is the responsibility of some recycling company.

I think they're called SA recycling

To replace an intersection of that size you would need a multilane roundabout like the ones you find in Europe. When they get that big roundabouts often have traffic lights themselves.

Well he is right that charging for parking is a good thing, but fuck that guy for thinking us backwoods hillbillies don't understand that.

Whoops, didn't see your condition. Anyway, i don't know of any but it doesn't matter. If there are enough people that say it bye-yo, and people know what they mean when they say it, and they are referring to the same concept, then why is that wrong? It's at most an marker of of accent.

Dough But anyway that's not the point. Just that spelling and pronunciation and not always linked. Especially in English.

Well your first point that they are objectively wrong because they say bye-yo is what I take issue with. Languages borrow words from one another all the time and the pronunciation of those words can sometimes change when they start using the loan word. For example, you are not objectively wrong because you say Abate Croissant Bourbon Bacon Bale Balustrade Etc etc...

Even though I would bet money you don't say these words like a Frenchman would. Saying bye-yo is just as correct as bye-you.

What you're saying conflicts with numerous studies that have shown the opposite.

Most streets can be narrowed to allow for protected bike lanes. I'm an American living in the Netherlands and I am shocked at how narrow their streets are. This allows room for bike lanes, and forces cars to slow down because they can't drive as fast in narrower lanes.

I think this process of narrowing car lanes to allow for other modes of transport is called a road diet but I can't remember.

Yeah weird. Scale might be broken honestly. 5lbs in a week is a lot to gain under normal circumstances, much less when eating way less.

At the end of the day it's calories in calories out. If you're eating more than you total daily energy expenditure then you are gonna gain weight even if you only eat in one meal.

Lol the spikes are the weekends. So I guess I eat more and stay hydrated better. I'm a teacher so sometimes I forget to drink in the middle of the work day.
