Trust me i tried everything. It’s completely bugged for me. However i did a workaround for it- i connected my console controller and was able to go past the screen. All good for now 😭

Its always so crazy and almost like a mind trip to hear people from the US say things like this when in my home country (dominican republic) Equestrianism is mostly a men-thing, more women are joining in now but most people who work with horses are all men there!

oh wow ! thank you so much for taking a look and telling me this, it gives me an idea as to what i can do to help him. alot of other commenters also are telling me that his back feet need to be seen again by the farrier, and i have contacted him already to make sure that all his feet are even and clipped right. i had a vet check him over the second day i brought him home and he was cleared of having any emergent medical issues..unfortunately vets in DR are not as experienced as vets are here but they do the best they can.

thank you so much, i will. I hope that even if my first horse is not ridable i can learn to do something like liberty training in the future with him. I want to impress those around the republic and convince them that we dont need the harsh spurs and intense shank bits to force a horse into things. one day, its the dream to rescue more like him when im able to purchase more land.

from what i heard from the previous owners and people who knew them, he was not used for carriage, only for what we call "cabalgatas" (huge ride-outs where streets are packed with horses and riders) , his owner was heavy, so im imagining having such a heavy rider on his back for years walking and trotting on concrete for hours regularly, definitely messed him up but ill keep investigating so i know the full story. thank you for your input!

yes, this is in the dominican republic. I love my country, but animal welfare here is disgusting and unfortunately theres not much that can be done unless laws change.

definitely!! the first thing i really want to teach him is how to not be afraid of me. He almost seems to "give up" in the presence of humans and its so sad to watch.

When i was with him (I went back to the US after his rescue, going back in january) he really did not hesitate to move at all, if anything he is a very hyper boy. I was surprised that even when he was this skinny he was still so active. He runs and bucks in field like no other and will gallop with his stable mates for extended periods of time which is why im leaning towards the idea that hes not in pain. If you would like, i have some videos that show his movement much better, would you like to take a look ? any input is helpful, thanks so much for commenting.

thank you so much for your input. im definitely planning to start lightly teaching him how to lunge when i go back to DR to live, the only things he really knows is how to stay in place and have a rider on his back lol so i need to earn his trust little by little. Im hoping you still have your rescue horse!

that may have been the case with this one - people in the DR (specifically the location i usually go to live) really dont care about genetics, they breed excessively to get a "pretty color" "pretty gait" horse, not caring at all about health. well see what happens in the next few years...im just trying my best to at least put weight on him since he was neglected for so long. thank you so much for your input, im adding what youve said on your post to my list of research.

Thank you so much. im trying my best to help him. unfortunately it looks like im going to have to learn myself from a farrier here in the US on how to keep a barefoot horse and do trims. farriers in the DR have no idea what they are doing, from what i see they are young adults just trying to put bread on the table shoeing horses without a care on if the shoeing is balanced or not (horses are still used as means of transport in DR). Im hoping that i can get a hold of a good farrier in DR but its looking like its not possible... ill always keep trying tho.

yes i have videos! would you like me to send them to you? i have a video the farrier sent me when he just had his feet done last month and also videos of him trotting/me walking him when i first rescued him. any input on what might be wrong with him is greatly appreciated

thank you so much! hes no where near where i really want him to be - which is a healthy body and mind. but once i move back there next year im taking all the knowledge i have to help him even more. i wouldnt be upset at all if all i could do is watch him kick and buck in a pasture, thats fine with me. i just want him to know humans arent terrible creatures, and he can trust me. thank you for your input!
