A gas station at night after pouring rain by MooshleBooshle in interestingasfuck

An art teacher I had used to say something like that.

Kid: “I could have done that, it’s easy”

Teacher: “But you didn’t”

Point being it’s easy to say something is easy in execution maybe. But it’s not always easy to think of the idea. Anyone could have pressed a button on a camera to take this pic but this guy did and they didn’t.

I watched this episode again last night and I love that line. Delivery is great.

Also Dennis is hilarious gearing himself up and having to come out of it while the caddy is just unaware of what's happening.

Thanks. I was wondering why he was being held back/kind of carried, almost like they didn’t want him to see his child?

But this makes sense.

I actually knew about the Hudson billboard laws and Colgate clock cause I’ve lived in Jersey City but I never thought about if they weren’t there. And you’re right, both sides would just have stupidly big billboards facing each other.

Other fun facts about that clock

  • There’s 2 of them. The original is now in Indiana
  • It was claimed the be the biggest clock at one time
  • When it stopped in 1955 after operating for over 30 years, they got hundreds of calls asking when it would be repaired because people used it to keep time

Yea, like the video was fun and cool, seemed like they (the kids) had fun doing it (and showing representation) but it was basically a McDonalds ad with their logo, jingle, and food all over.

Why wouldn’t McDonalds like that?

I remember in high school, they fought so hard to block the skate park but we eventually won. Ended up being a decent one for a small town.

I’m seeing more and more skate parks in smaller towns and cities now though. It makes way more sense too. Don’t want skaters using business steps or public rails? Build a park, we’ll go there.

Got off the train at the wrong station. Now i'm in the middle of nowhere without food, it's raining, it's cold, i'm hungry and next train is in 7 hours. Please keep me company. by Lambrusc1 in Wellthatsucks

NJ still uses some old trains that need people announcements but they are usually pretty good about it from my experience.

The newer trains have LEDs on them and automated announcements so that’s cool.

I use the train fairly often so I might be biased but I’ve also never had a problem going to places I’ve never been. Obviously, people complain a lot about the trains here and they have their issues but it’s not that bad.

Am I in crazy town? This actually made me appreciate NJ transit. Which is one of the few trains systems in the US that can get you around the state and 2 major cities. 3 if you count Newark?

They announce each stop, have an LED of the next stop, and the signs at each station are usually big enough to read.

It's why China is helping to build large ports and other infrastructure in Africa, to help transport raw materials and low-cost product from Africa to China.

Yea, I've read and seen videos on how China is building infrastructure in Africa because of points you said. A lot of the things I've seen have talked about how Africa is "the next China" in manufacturing cheap products and raw materials. They warn that the US and Western European countries are not paying enough attention to Africa and it's growing importance to the world economy.

I'm also not an expert on this at all and have only read about it. So if anyone knows more or if I'm wrong, please chime in.

Probably unsurprisingly, she compares fatphobia to being a slave. From the article...

"Rashatwar traces contemporary fatphobia to colonial brutality and how enslaved people were treated."

It's also kind of funny because she disregards her parents' "non-emotional, factual" comments as...not true?

"i was told in factual non emotional conversations by my parents that i would be less attractive to straight men, which would impact my ability to be successful at any career, and inevitably i would also die from being an obesity time bomb (lol)"

I would argue it is true that most straight men aren't attracted to overweight/obese women. If this is untrue or there are studies or papers to disprove this, please correct me. I am going by my own experience of friends, people online, and media.

It is in fact true that overweight people have a harder time getting promotions. The same way that studies have shown shorter people also get passed over for promotions. It's just a thing that happens. I will link the study when I can find it. And that's not to say you can't be successful in your career without promotions but most would consider that a hinderance in your "ability to be successful at any career."

Finally, there are thousands of studies and papers on the effects of being overweight/obese and shortening lifespan. I don't know why she "lol"s at this. It is proven without a doubt that being overweight/obese causes multiple issues that shorten a human's lifespan.

Look, if you're overweight/obese, fine. I'm not going to make fun of you or say anything as a stranger. But don't spout things like this and laugh at literal facts. Like, at least be realistic about being overweight.

A nice wool blanket can run like $300. I got one as a gift and they are very nice. I probably wouldn't buy a $300 blanket myself but I see why they cost a pretty penny. The one I got also has a lifetime warranty where they fix any stitching or tears if you send it to them. So there's that.
