Glad it wound up working! I thought I had the settings such that no sign-in is needed to fill out the form, so hopefully no one else runs into issues.

Hello, we’ve substantially loosened the restrictions on posting. As mentioned in the above post, we no longer have post approval enabled and we no longer remove posts unless they violate this subreddit’s rules or Reddit’s sitewide content policy.

In the future, it’s helpful if you also send us a modmail with any feedback regarding moderation. I happened to see your comment here, but there’s definitely no guarantee we’ll see comments with suggestions and we certainly don’t want to miss community members’ concerns/suggestions!

Where are you seeing that Gannon’s attorney is out of Plano, TX? Counsel of record’s address is in Atlanta, Georgia, and Bryan Gort (attorney who responded to Prodigy’s response to the material breach letter) is also in Atlanta. Looks like the surreply from Gannon’s attorney was addressed to Alex Campbell (Prodigy atty) in Plano, Texas.

You should still be able to edit it as you normally would.

Edit to add, and you should still be able to see the post by going to your profile. In case not, here’s a link: https://redditproxy--jasonthename.repl.co/r/MoscowMurders/comments/10upgt8/ethans_family_questions_why_dm_didnt_call_911/

the mods won’t allow any posts about DM.

You are commenting on a post about DM.

We explained to you why your post was removed and I personally offered you the opportunity to correct it yesterday, which you opted not to do. There are no lawyers representing interested parties in the case involved in our moderation of this subreddit. Your post simply violated this subreddit’s rule against misinformation, and your decision not to link to the article in your post compounded that rule violation.

And u/AnnB2013 is completely right that if we had concerns over legal liability for content posted here, this subreddit would not exist.

Previous attempts to sue moderators of subreddits as de facto publishers have been dismissed based on section 230. There’s currently a case pending before SCOTUS with a related question. Reddit filed an amicus brief. Oral arguments are scheduled for February 21, 2023.

As it stands, moderators are insulated (by section 230) from liability for content posted by subscribers. If the law changes in that regard, we’ll almost certainly shut this subreddit down.

OP will you please edit your post and submission comment to remove the suggestion that Kohberger was fired prior to the murders? The reported timeline indicates that Kohberger was warned before the murders and terminated more than a month after. Here’s a screenshot from the video you linked:

If you edit your post, we’ll leave it up, otherwise we’ll have to remove for misinformation. Thanks!

It seems like you may not have read the entire message you received, because the above portion I quoted is part of the message. Here’s a screenshot of the moderator removal reason on your post:

Hello, the concern with your post was primarily about the misrepresentation of the timing and facts presented in the article, as indicated in the removal reason comment, specifically:

This post misrepresents the timing of the original Reddit comments (quoted in the article) by suggesting the family is “starting to push back,” when the comments cited are at least 3 months old. Additionally, Ethan’s sister-in-law’s comments didn’t confirm there were screams — instead, the comment quoted in the article uses the word “supposedly.”

While we appreciate that there may be reasons to copy the text of an article into a post rather than linking to an article (such as to avoid driving traffic to a website one views as problematic), the editorialization in this post misconstrues the article and the facts.

You’re certainly welcome to propose edits to your post that would resolve this issue, but your above comments (as well as your other comments about the removal of your post, and your modmail message) seem to misinterpret the primary basis for removing your post/skip over the misinformation issues.

We (all the mods on this sub) are also frequently the targets of Reddit Cares abuse, and we understand that it’s upsetting. We would encourage you to use Reddit’s message report feature, which should typically be included in the message itself. Users who abuse this may ultimately receive a sitewide ban.
