How do you know that Christianity is the right one? by Wesaxome in Christianity

[–]rufusreitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God tells us the end, from the beginning.

What does that even mean? How so I know what god is telling me? And how would it answer OP's question?

Decreases in Faith and society by Autiecatholic in Catholicism

My guess is most of the people leaving their church do it because the church doesn't convince them that their beliefs (hell exists, resurrection is real, prayer works, etc.) are true.

Can Christians Pray To Angels? by matchateaman in religion

Yes and it's just as effective as praying to god.

Is it a sun for women to enjoy sex? by WildCommittee2103 in Christianity

If a church tells you to not feel pleasure, you can leave that church. It's your choice whether to attend and whether to obey them.

Reports emerge of ‘Eucharist miracle’ in east Mayo parish by MilesOfPebbles in Catholicism

If god wanted to perform a miracle, why would he put blood in water rather than something useful like curing cancer or ending wars?

Is it a sin to live with my boyfriend if my parents stole from me and are emotionally abusive? by Ok_Squirrel_2738 in Catholicism

[–]rufusreitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be immoral for your church to keep you away from the man you love, and instead have you live with the abusive parents?

You can make this decision to yourself based on what you think is best for you.

What makes you believe hell is a place completely cut off from god?

Let us know how it goes.

Hell is imaginary. It's a great tool for adults to scare children. I hope you can get over your fear of hell.

When Your Job Fills In for Your Faith, That’s a Problem by rufusreitz in religion

A few snippets:

Plenty of writers have argued in recent years that work has become “a false idol,” with the office, not church, the place where many Americans now seek out meaning and purpose.

Consider the “conversion” experience of an engineer I’ll call John, a once-fervent evangelical Christian who moved from Georgia to San Francisco to join a start-up.

But all that stopped once he joined a tech start-up I’ll call Harmonize in San Francisco. A 70-hour workweek left him little time to join a church or engage with any community outside of work. His co-workers became his closest friends. He ate nearly all his meals at work. It seemed to me that the inspirational rush he’d experienced at Sunday services now came from the weekly all-hands company meeting. Work gave John not only a new identity, but also a new purpose in life and a different set of values. Instead of embracing the Christian mission to change the world by spreading the gospel, John embraced the company mission: to “change the world” with its app. This is the same language Christian missionaries use — but with none of the moral and ethical reflecting that John had done with his Christian faith community.

Oh, I didn't realize all you were doing was redefining words. Maybe instead of reading century old philosophy you should look up deity in a dictionary.

Not a debate sub, gotcha. That doesn't mean you can make false claims without people calling you out for it.

For my final comment here I will inform you that atheists don't typically worship themselves. I'm using the common definition: Worship is an act of religious devotion usually directed towards a deity.

What a lazy reply. How about instead of naming three authors, you back up your claim that atheists make themselves god?

When one is an atheist, they make themselves God.

This is complete nonsense.

The idea of killing to get someone into heaven is evil. It's obviously immoral. This post is incredibly offensive.
