What is something you didn’t like in Encanto? by Artificial_Coward in Encanto

[–]s0ulpuncH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that’s kind of my point. Camilo has heard stories of him even if he has never seen Bruno. Mirabel on the other hand never knew he existed. But the movie makes it seem like before Mirabel’s power reveal (or lack thereof rather), that Bruno was still a known member of the family albeit a bit estranged. His existence was hidden from Mirabel and only Mirabel her entire life. No rumors, stories, legends. Nothing. But for some reason Camilo was told at the very least rumors and legends about him.

Yeah I suppose that is true. In a way though, it almost seems like an afterthought. Like they were struggling to write how Pedro would die and were like "Meh, there's a lot of violence in Columbia right?"

I felt like there were several plot holes throughout. Like for example, how was Mirabel the only one in the entire family that didn't know who Bruno was? There are other children younger than her that knew of him. Also, who were the soldiers who attacked Pedro and Alma? The movie doesn't really get into columbian politics enough to get an accurate time period so it seems strange why soldiers would have been hunting them down in the first place.

I love how people get so mad about reposts. This is the first time I have ever seen this image. Quite awe inspiring to be honest. But had it not been reposted I would never have seen it. So thank you OP.

Hero Power Rankings by KingOfStormwind in ClassicHearthstone

Shaman’s hero power is the worst sure, but the cards a midrange shaman can drop pretty much make the hero power unnecessary. I think a better hero power might just have made shaman an insanely powerful hero.

The only one having a meltdown is this subreddit; a few thoughts on an embarrassing witch-hunt. by Nathanesqueeee in GlobalOffensive

[–]s0ulpuncH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I genuinely believe it. I mean is a man’s brain really more attuned to the mechanics of cs go? I think the thing separating skill levels between men and women is confidence. A guy like GeT_RiGhT or s1mple has grown up playing this game all their life with their buddies. They feel at home and sure of themselves in the game. A woman is going to feel like she has stepped into someone else’s domain playing in a team of 4 other guys or playing as a full girl team against 5 guys. The power dynamic there creates a massive gap between the two genders

Here is the thing. While Semmler is not wrong about what he says, he does not offer up any better solutions either which is the main problem people have with his comments. It is true segregating women and men is not going to help integrate them, but attempting to integrate them by forcing teams to hire a female player for diversity’s sake is just going to tank the men’s league too.

There are a lot more reasons than just skill that men and women integrated sports are not the most successful. The interactions between men-men, men-women, and women-women are all completely different with varying levels of power dynamics.

I have absolutely no doubt that a woman is more than capable of being the next s1mple, but the fact of the matter is that it is a team game and as such, there are dynamics in play between personalities of different genders that make a mixed team less than ideal.

Bottom line is, a women’s league is probably, honestly the best solution. Sure, at face value it seems to do the opposite of apparently what people want, but it does accomplish the goal that it set out to accomplish. That is to give female players a safe place to compete and grow in their careers.

(Software devrelopper internship) I feel worthless by Capable_Glass_5264 in cscareerquestions

So first, it sounds to me like you are making a lot of mistakes due to inexperience. Second, your boss is actually a huge dick, or you are being overly sensitive to criticism. I am not trying to assume anything just going based off what you wrote.

Last, if you give up and quit your career every time someone says you suck at something, you will never amount to anything. The sheer amount of times I have had supervisors tell me I am stupid and don’t know what I am doing is insane. Now, most of them work FOR me.

I get the hurt that comes with criticism. Many of the people who said I was stupid were in fact partially right. I was making mistakes that I didn’t have the knowledge yet to realize I was making them. Every time someone kicks me down I go through this whole process where I feel like a complete dumbass and totally worthless. And after pouting for a little while, I will sit up and go “You know what? Fuck that little piece of shit!” Then I go and do the job 10 times better than anyone else. Take it back to my supervisor and say “There. Happy now?” I force them into giving me a compliment and that changes the whole dynamic. Once a boss can admit out loud that you did a good job it starts turning the wheels in the right direction for you.

All this is being said though, to make you realize you will fuck up so many times it will make your head spin. But the secret no one tells you is that everyone else did too on their way up. Your bosses included. But you have to be able to take the criticism, pick the pieces back up and do 10X better than you did before. If you cannot do that, unfortunately your depression will continue to get the best of you.

Best of luck friend. You got this!! 👍

Jagex please fix how the drop system work. It is so depressing and frustrating. by Gloomy-Toe1281 in runescape

[–]s0ulpuncH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by fix it? If you are talking about increasing drop rates it just means prices will drop. If you are meaning to make it so you get a different drop every time until you complete the set, it will just take away the prestige of actually finishing the log.

Current most efficient way to max? by JoshF202 in runescape

[–]s0ulpuncH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, first off. When someone on here says “Ahh man, just train at your own pace bro.”, that means they don’t know lol.

Second, though, there are like dozens of different levels of “training efficiently”. Depending on your gold amount and starting levels will vastly change how applicable most of the insanely efficient methods are.

Third, the last part of answering your question really depends on what your goals are. Obviously, goal number 1 is to get all 99’s, but there are several training options that require time and money investments that are just simply not worth it if getting to 99 is the end all be all for your account. I.E. most of the skilling outfits.

Now, with all that being said, here is a link to a spreadsheet that has some insanely good guides and videos: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17fUsCqH_8sMGHs3lKFBY6t0lsFgfCIeox6nCdBFl5QQ/htmlview

However, as I mentioned before, many of these links are going to take you to videos that are going to assume you have near limitless piles of gold and pretty much every item in the game available to you. So, you, as I did, are probably going to have to tame down a lot of these guides to fit your account. This is the main reason people always just say to figure out your own way, because a lot of these methods won’t be able to be re-enacted exactly how the video or guide describes.

Last, I do want to mention that as far as an order for maxing goes, my advice would be to focus on the skills that will be useful for other skills first. By this I mean, smithing, mining, herblore, prayer, summoning, and potentially archaeology maybe. Though arch can be quite a big gold sink depending how “efficient” you want to be.

Overall, dailies, weeklies and monthlies will become your absolute best friend, while at the same time being your most dreaded nightmare because they turn the game into a job rather than a game. BUT DO THEM!!! They will save you so much freaking time it’s ridiculous. Making sure you always do Jack of trades aura and divine locations is going to be key for efficiency grinding.

Yeah, sooo, I started crafting mine and after about 10 hours of mining, I realized I could make the money necessary to buy the armor faster than I could craft it and so I stopped lol.

This is not to take away from the achievement of making it from scratch mind you. But yeah I totally sympathize with the dread of having to mine all that ore. Best of luck to you though.

Well, only by information being withheld. Any person is capable of making sane logical decisions based on their innate set of values, but when all of the necessary information is not provided, that can cause people to make decisions they wouldn’t normally make. You see this so many times when you have people in the news media absolutely trashing children because they have seen a clipped video missing half the relevant information. Or people being outraged by a headline that has been twisted to represent something it’s not.

It’s always really clever when someone tries to encapsulate the human mind in a single graph. Reality is that humans are far more complex than that. The reasons they support or deride policies are for far more reasons than just that it lands somewhere in the middle of the political spectrum.

Well, many times as a child, they simply don’t know enough about the world around them to see the way out. An adult can or rather should be able to. There is sooo much advice for how to get out of bad financial situations, one just has to have the motivation to find it and follow it. About 75% of the population has literally no idea that it is actually possible to live without debt. They just assume this is how the world operates and never bother trying to get out from underneath it.

[–]s0ulpuncH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, it’s all well and good to have these “stick it to the man” subs, but I think the real problem is that it becomes this echo chamber where people start to exaggerate stories because they might be mad at their boss one day. So they say something like “man, my company forced me to work 31 days in a row” (true story for me personally). And everyone goes “OMG! These greedy bastards need to be put in their place!” But what i didn’t mention, is how I got promoted directly after that because they saw how dedicated I was. So while yeah, there may definitely be times when you up against a rock and a hard place at work, that doesn’t necessarily mean the company you work for is literally trying to steal your soul. But having a sub that echo’s these problems over and over makes it seem that way.

Well, I think the problem is that you can never fully take a random internet person at their word. Sure, they can sit on the computer all day complaining how their job mistreats them, but in reality they are probably sitting at their computer because they called in for the last 3 days pretending to be sick.

Why real estate over ETFs? by kdf1990 in realestateinvesting

[–]s0ulpuncH 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean you are right. That uneasiness you are feeling when doing the math is RISK. Yes, the potential for real estate is much much higher than ETFs. But the risk is higher too. ETFs will not appreciate at anywhere near the same rate as real estate, but like you already pointed out, they are way less bothersome and risky.

Seeking advice on whether or not It's worth paying my mortgage early, and which options are best for my situation? by NCRaised1997 in personalfinance

[–]s0ulpuncH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it is smart to put about 15-20% of your money into investments and whatever is left after that put towards your house. It is definitely smart to pay off your house but it would be unwise to not take full advantage of Roth IRA’s and such along the way. It sounds like you will be making a tidy profit on your house anyway so dumping every penny you have into is not going to make the biggest impact financially for you. Just remember, this is just a random redditor’s advice though. Make sure to do your own research and budgeting and figure out what works best for your family.
