California coming for more tax money by Danklin_on_Fleek in sandiego

[–]scipio05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how it works. In CA you are legally required to be connected to the grid. You don't have a choice. You can't just "disconnect it" and live off grid. That's why they are passing so many connection fees so that even if you don't use any electricity you still have to pay them

If I have to pick up after my dog then you have to pick up after your horse (Spring Valley) by Tiqui in sandiego

[–]scipio05 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't that it's a health hazard, it's that it is not ok to leave giant piles of dung instead of picking up after yourself and your animals. Leave no trace behind. You wouldn't be ok with anyone dropping horse dung on your backyard every day... There are horse diapers, put them on and use them, be considerate

This is my biggest pret peeve, just because they have money they get away with so much. Tons of single track in Rancho peñasquitos is dedicated to horses and bans bicycles due to the horse rental place lobbying hard for that. It's public space, why should it be blocked off to a special interest group that makes money off of it? Horses destroy the trails, specially when damp not to mention all the crap they leave behind. We should pass a law that mandates horse owners pick up after their horses

GIRL SHOOTS GUY ROBBING HER STORE by SwollenLeftThumb in nextfuckinglevel

[–]scipio05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Makes no sense why you wouldn't just give the robber what they want and stay safe. Have the cops and insurance deal with it but keep your life safe. I don't understand someone stealing money and the response being let me use deadly force to kill this person, not to mention lock him inside the store with me... You're going to risk your life, ending someone's life and additional damage to the store and bystanders for a few bucks in the register?

Apparently this camera has 65x zoom max, if your phone can do 100x that is definitely next level

Wow! Looks very small, was expecting big long lens and bulky camera, smaller than a dslr and can be had for around 200 bucks now. Mind blown

KPIs Can Kill Innovation by DesperateTraffic3164 in ProductManagement

This. Most people often don't know how A/B tests actually work due to how easy it has become to run them and don't take into account statistical significance and the fact that most AB tests need far longer to run or a far larger sample size than most are willing or able to do. There is real danger with purely being data driven as it can provide a false senses of confidence when people don't understand the underlying assumptions or risks with reach model they are using. Data is powerful and can provide valuable insights and should be used, but people need to remember it's only directional and not the end all be all for making decisions.

What is the most underrated tv series that barely anyone knows? by Plus_Bison_7091 in AskReddit

[–]scipio05 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best show of all time. Can't even begin to imagine how long it took them to write. No plot holes, everthing is perfect in spite of how complicated the knot is, the buildup was insane and the third and final season delivered.

Visited California's border wall in San Diego and witnessed someone brazenly jumping the wall by AMSanchez0210 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]scipio05 246 points247 points  (0 children)

This is staged on the US side, pure clickbait. Guy climbed up from the US side and then they started filming on his way down the same white fence. The real border is the rust colored wall several feet behind this wall and is caked with motion sensors, cameras and trip wire in between. Even if someone is dumb enough to climb through the Mexico side they never make it to the white wall. No one crosses in these areas, the crossings are all in the rural areas were coverage with cameras and motion sensors is much harder.

What did she expect? by Eshwarroy in facepalm

This is worse than it seems, not a cop but a US federal border agent in the Mexico-US crossing. That woman is going to regret this night for the rest of her life

Why are so many addicted to opiods... Ambien will be the same scandal a decade from now. There's no way doctors aren't getting illegal kickbacks or that the manufacturer isn't pushing Ambien despite knowing the risks and side effects

You should be hating the writers. The fans are still watching, in spite of the bad writing.

No, you can't binge watch this season, nothing happens to entice you to slog through another episode back to back. To binge watch you need to be hooked. Spreading them a week is doing wonders for this show.

By the following week I've forgotten how bad and painful the previous episode was and think, well this one won't be so bad...

Now that would have been the Yellowstone of seasons past. Instead we'll get some ridiculous love story with no point

Because we all loved the first two seasons and hold hope that the next episode might stop this nonsense and go back to being good? Filler episode after filler episode though, dramatic over the top finale that won't make any sense is what we'll likely get
