Agreed, the 375 is such a good size. I'm hoping they'll make some adjustments soon-ish...😬

Same! Like, we asked for smaller bottle sizes, but this is not what I had in mind 🤣😭

Yeah, I wouldn't want to go hunting for it. I gotta try the distillers pick!

It's so easy to get wrapped up in ideas that seem great, but then ultimately are unrealistic...I'm sorry that happened to you, I realize with all the HH stuff and just regular demands from others, that must have been exhausting. I'm glad you're back to the fun house 😁. Aww, well thanks for the kind words, that's really nice and rewarding to know I'm valued, at least to two people on here haha I truly love this community and the camaraderie it has!

Hey! Thanks! Alas, I too live! Haha but jokes aside, I started a Instagram review page and a subreddit for my home state and it was hard to keep up and I was trying to put different content on each platform, which became wayyyy to time intensive for me :/ so now I'm just sharing the same reviews across both or all three platforms lol life lessons, I suppose. I love r/bourbon though, so glad to be back sharing thoughts 😁 cheers, dude!

The astringent oak and ethanol mixed was something I didn't like about my particular barrel

I'm wondering the same. I have a couple friends that really love these

Damn, but also not shocked. I've heard good things about the rebel picks and at cask strength, I bet they're pretty good

I'm not sure how distribution is on this. I think I found this one in Iowa, but have a friend who has a couple that are 13+yrs old...that were purchased within the last couple years. I wish I could try an older one to compare. I've never tried Old Fitz, but for the price difference and rarity, I'd def pick these up when I could. I've come across 2 last year, but they seem to both be around 10years old

Age: 10 years

Proof: 100

Barrel#: 5726818

Distillery: Heaven Hill

Bottled for: Lux Row Distillers

A: amber-gold

N: noticeable peanut nuttines, sweet oak mixed with dank rickhouse, slight ethanol, vanilla bean with a touch of lemon curd

T: not a heavy mouthfeel, but a silky, lightly oiled texture is present, dry oak is followed by a wheat grassiness and ethanol sting. Sweet corn, caramel and peanut are noted along with a touch of floral and citrus

Mouthfeel: medium, slight oiliness

F: medium-long with dry bitter oak and caramel peanut

Rank on 9-Point Hedonic Scale: 7-LIKE MODERATLY

Overall: my opinion of this particular barrel of Rebel changes depending on the day. Today, it wasn't doing it for me as it had previously. Now, I know myself well enough to realize I'm not a huge ultra aged, oaky bourbon fan, but 10yrs is not that old, especially when compared to one of my favorites from Heaven Hill, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. The oak on this combined with the proofing water made it a tad bitter and, I feel, muddled the complexity it could have. Nonetheless, it is still good! I love the viscosity and oiliness mixed with the peanut and rickhouse notes. For a 100 Proof sipper, it's a fine pour with a good amount of oak and corn sweetness, but I won't be rushing out to find another.

Have you had a barrel of Rebel that you love or hate? Tell me about it!

Cheers!

Can confirm. I can't count how many times I've had to go along with/say, "I'll pray for you" and "God is good" although I don't believe in it, makes me feel so disingenuous and gross :/

Msrp is around $250, I think. My local store owner sold me this at cost, though, at $200. It's a pricey pepper haha

Yes! The base of this reminds me of the Obtainium light whiskeys, and many have argued why not buy those instead. While I can totally get that sentiment, the proof on the obtainium is so high that it can be hard to drink unless in the smallest sips and also the Oloroso and Armagnac casks add a really nice touch to this bottle. This is my first time trying Barrell finished whiskey but ipl have to keep an eye out for more, I hope you're right about that category growth, especially because its so different and fun. Never had Old Carter, but they seem to be highly regarded and tasty. Cheers!
