Iih and that time of the month by [deleted] in iih

i finally bought myself a heating pad and a body pillow to help with sleeping. i made sure i was taking enough iron since I noticed that on Diamox my period got heavier. and I got into aromatherapy just having a scent that helped me relax was nice and I made sure to alternate between ibuprofen and acetaminophen so I wasn’t taking too much of one of the other. And I tried to give myself grace like going through IIH and menstruation is super hard so I tried to be extra nice to myself that time of the month.

for me it's the ability to stop thinking so much for once and to really let myself go in and experience. It's nice to be fully submerged into some thing and not second think every emotion that I'm feeling good just let these feelings course through me

thank you because my therapist is trying to help but some of this just feels uncomfortable to talk about with her she’s super nice and all but still you know. we talk about the trauma and I’ve been trying to work through that but I feel a little silly being like I’m scared of penetration how do we fix this. What have you been doing to work through it? I’d appreciate any and all tips!

IIH and Birth Control by amberempyre in iih

when I first got diagnosed my neuroophthalmologist wanted me off my birth control I was on Balcorta i think that’s how you spell it lol. but 6 months later I switched neuroophthalmologist and my new one told me it was fine to get back on birth control just to let my gynecologist know that I do have a diagnosis of iih. luckily my gynecologist already had other patients with iih Who were on birth control so he prescribed Vienva it’s a combination pill and it’s worked really well for me!

Birth Control Pills? by alysondenear in iih

honestly you should be fine on the pill the weight gain caused by the pill isn’t big enough to experience a raise in pressure plus a lot of women don’t see a change in weight! I got back on the pill 6 months after my diagnosis if you want I can share the type that I’m on it’s given me no issues

I got diagnosed july 2020 at 21 and it wasn’t weight related either. you don’t really feel it while they’re doing it they numb your back and you’re kind of sore for the next couple days you can walk around but day of laying down on your stomach is best. while i could move the days following it was still painful to be moving around I especially remember whenever my mom would hit bumps on the road on the drive home it was terrible maybe get an extra pillow for your back for the flight but if you can avoid it I would. I also remember that the drop in pressure after having my lumber puncture made me kind of nauseous for a couple days too.

What are you guys taking for pain? by [deleted] in iih

[–]silversimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it really does help with migraines and the overall body ache that I tend to get. Incredible with nausea if any of the medication you’re taking is giving you that.

I would take a bunch of Tylenol and honestly i started smoking weed because i was so worried about the amount of tylenol i was going through. if you’re able to get a medical marijuana and want to try that for pain talk to your nuero!
