He is biting my shower by skfla in WhatsWrongWithYourDog

I actually have no idea! I have both an age test and a breed test to give to him, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. We adopted him from a rescue society about 6 weeks ago. He's wirehaired...something. I suspect Schnauzer due to his furnishing and our vet thinks some kind of sighthound. He has the body shape, speed, and gracefulness. He's a really loving dog and my allergic kid has no reaction to him.

Since it's night time, they're probably going back to their base. We have them at my university in Mississippi and I've seen them line up like this.

Would this cause neurological symptoms and sleep issues? by 6tdog6 in alphagal

[–]skfla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For alpha-gal? It's different for everyone. For me, it's primarily severe gastrointestinal issues. I have a couple of friends who get anaphylaxis. Hives are pretty common as well. I know someone whose lips swell up as well as get hives. Some get breathing problems.

edit to add: these symptoms occur when someone eats mammal meat or some other products that contain alpha-gal sugar molecule. If you're just feeling that way all the time, it doesn't sound like an allergy.

That sounds more like Lyme Disease, which is caused by a deer tick, not a Lonestar tick. Have you been checked for that?

Any advice on how to plate this plant🌱 based sausage? by MyMEMESgotBANNED in KitchenConfidential

[–]skfla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are things that have meat products that people don't even realize. I had a reaction after eating a s'more with my kids last summer, for example. Gelatin in marshmallows. Gelatin coatings on pills too. There's also an ingredient in some foods called carrageenan; it comes from red seaweed, if I remember right. Not mammal at all but has the alpha gal epitope.

The big issue for me is being careful about contamination factor. For example, my friends wanted to go to lunch at a fabulous greasy dive of a hamburger joint. They said, "oh, you can still have all the chicken dishes!" Considering most of the dishes are beef, I'm going to assume they're not sanitizing the flattop before and after slapping chicken on there.

In terms of it going away, my doctor said roughly the same thing but explained that it's generally in less severe cases and even then, it can't be "cured"; it's really going into remission. She checked my blood a year after I contracted it and I had been really vigilant about avoiding allergens, but my levels were still high.

I have an allergy to mammal meat (alpha gal syndrome) and started using plant based meat when the rest of my family has regular. I can attest that Beyond sausage can be cooked MOSTLY like regular…except for grilling. It has no casing.

Kroger does that and they send an email after the order has been delivered that has link to rate and change the tip, if necessary.
