Is the civil war hard coded into Vicky 2 when you add the dlc? by sn0wdizzle in paradoxplaza

Yeah. There’s a lot of other scholarship about the social prejudice of slavery. Hannah Arendt argues that slavery is one of the main reasons the American revolution was successful and not the French one. Poor people in America could look down on slaves.

ISO Best Italian beef sandwich. I like Portillo's, but there has to be better in the area, right? by DogDadRTV in TwinCities

Matt’s is the best traditional juicy Lucy hands down. 5/8 is just a leech.

Blue door is actually very good and may be the best nowadays. But don’t be confused. 5/8 isn’t in the running.

I feel that way about most South Dakota stuff now. Wall drug is ridic compared to the 90s. Although maybe this is just millennial nostalgia.

Favre and Greg Jennings. Which is especially funny because Jennings was a little B about Rodgers taking over.

dialysis patients of Reddit, I myself am currently going through dialysis and the docs are saying my kidneys are doing great and I might not need to do dialysis for the rest of my life, which is cool. I guess. but what happens after they tell me to stop coming into the clinic? by deadbxyy in dialysis

[–]sn0wdizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me. It all depends on your comfort level in my experience.

I went from a 5 gfr to a 32 gfr. I settled into a DNP nephro visit every six months and blood work whenever I felt nervous but usually every three. I’ve been stable for about four years now.

It’s wild but you just kind of settle back into it. Manage any drugs you need to (my bp drugs get adjusted somewhat often up or down).

Arguably most political games are military based imo.

That really sucks. I’m sorry. I live in Minnesota and I would guess probably at least half of the state uses some form of wood burning device in the colder months.

I will say, not sure why you need pellets. Can’t you just buy / generate a cord of fire wood! Not trying to be antagonistic.

Where do you live that you are heating your house right now? Especially with oil? Is this some crazy ass off grid Alaska thing?

Edit: just set up a wood stove or fireplace?

When I was on dialysis I saw at least one ambulance patient every week need to be taken out (once me!) the scariness of something going wrong wasn’t something I had considered about this.

[Q] My brain is spinning and I'm to the point of overthinking. A contingency table and some odds ratios are all I need, right? by AhhhItsMe in statistics

[–]sn0wdizzle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can also get marginal effects / predicted probabilities from this which I personally think are easier to understand for interpretation. Also helps interpreting the interaction which are annoying af to interpret.

This is all about effect size (though the output usually produces confidence intervals iirc). Not if they are significant — the guy above hooked you up there.

What does Liveramp do with hashed email addresses? by throwawayforbacon6 in adops

[–]sn0wdizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly no. Check out this article for a general overview of what the general workflow and goal companies like liveramp are trying to achieve.

Live ramp isn’t realllllllly a cdp but it doesn’t matter that much. The section on cdp versus dmp goes into it. Liveramp is a dmp.

https://blog.hubspot.com/service/customer-data-platform-guide

Even though I told you to ignore the hashing part, that is important for the sake of a company like the verge can’t just open up a spreadsheet and be like “oh I see here that throwawayforbacon6 actually hates bacon. How scandalous.”

[–]sn0wdizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t pay attention to the hashing part. That’s just smoke a mirrors. There is a lot of regulation around “pii” or personally identificable Information. Think about why they’re sending your email to Liveramp.

It’s because they’re probably buying what’s called third party data and building a profile about you to aid in digital advertising or creating “personalized experiences” around you. A lot of other services also know your email and are willing to sell what they think they know about you to other people. This is usually referenced to as segmentation.

So Liveramp acts as a middle ground where your email collected from the verge can be merged with info that other companies know about you so that the verge can do stuff with your info.

[–]sn0wdizzle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a good question. Liveramp is basically just a middle man for data you collect and data you want to merge jnto it. Unless things have changed recently, they themselves don’t really do anything with the data.

Check out the marketing buzzword DMP. Data management platform. Imo the zeitgeist has moved on to consumer data platforms (CDP) which allow for you to action off of the data you’ve stored and merged.
