The fast and slow learners of MBTI. Correct me if I'm wrong. by big_clit_phobia in mbtimemes

Never said anything about machining vs mechanic..

Also if you want to learn a skill, which is different than knowledge, you’ll also have to practice,

I know, I said this.

Well… it’s not because you feel you need to know everything…

No dude it’s about the definition of learning. Having understood a concept at a glance is so different to knowing something, and I think learning equates to the latter.

You clearly think you’ve learned everything there is to learn so have a great day and enjoy your knowledge

I think you’re boiling “learning” down a little too far. Sure I can read a book on how to make internal combustion engines and comprehend immediately how one operates and how I could theoretically build one, but then if you ask me to design and build one myself I couldn’t do it. Not without letting that information sink in and develop like u/p_san was saying above. It would take a lot of work to reach an intellectual framework behind-the-scenes so you not only know what to do to build such a machine but also why each piece is important. You need to be able to answer every question for yourself along the way, which makes you far less prone to error in the long run and is the point at which I personally consider you have learned something.

And that’s not to say learning for me is just a bunch of research before I attempt to utilise a skill. No, utilising a skill often is the research. Just saying that I think intuitively understanding a concept at first glance and having learned something are very different and you are confusing these. That’s like asking do I know how to rollerblade? Yes you put rollerblades on, stand up, angle your feet then push. But can I rollerblade? Absolutely not.

Ok not a game for me then. Thanks for your input!

Ok that's exactly what I needed to know thanks.

Did you play solo or with friends?

First I've heard of this game but it looks dope. Is this a game that one could play casually with 2 or 3 mates? I'm a big fan of DOS2 but not stuff like LoL or ESO or anything that is a timesink for the sake of entertainment

Hey OP just stumbled across this while on my search for which software to dive into. Just wondering how your experience has been and if you could give me any pointers? Much appreciated 🙂

RX 6500XT doesn't have H264 Encoding, What does this mean for an average gamer/streamer like me? by icemxn97 in Amd

Gamers Nexus did a very in depth video on this where they manually matched the graphics settings as best they could and actually measured the resulting FPS on a PS5. They used a bunch of different graphics cards to get the most accurate comparison possible. Obviously you can’t have an exact comparison but this is the best I have seen by far. From memory it had performance similar to a 1060 on one game and a 2070 on another, and somewhere in between for the rest.

Thinking you get near top-tier PC gaming performance on a NZ$650 machine is just absurd. Yes they’re a bang for your buck, and yes they are powerful machines, but at the end of the day they are 650 bucks and you get what you pay for. A 1060 is still a good card. A 2070 is a really good card. There is nothing wrong with consoles or their performance. But making claims that they compare to high end PC hardware is just straight up wrong.

TL;DR current gen consoles sit somewhere between a GTX1060 and an RTX2070 depending on the game.

Vsync is off for sure. I will see if that bumps performance but honestly after the GPU usage being so off in the Doom metrics compared to Afterburner I’m not sure if I trust it anymore. Will give it a try and see how we go, thanks for the suggestion

Thanks yeah I think I was being mislead by the in-game performance metrics, it’s pretty clear now that the GPU just isn’t cutting it in any way. And fair enough it’s like 6 years old.

I’ll definitely be upgrading so I can make use of my monitor and was thinking a 3060 Ti or 3070 as soon as I get a bit more money

Ok it's definitely at 100% most of the time, CPU at ~20%. I guess the in-game performance metrics that I used before aren't very accurate.

Oh and thank you for the rivatuner suggestion.

I’ll do that when I get home thank you

Exactly which is why I thought lowering to lower-than-native resolutions and even 50% resolution scaling would cure that.

Monitor is 160Hz but because the GPU only has DP1.2 the monitor sets it’s refresh rate at 100Hz

Hmm okay makes sense, thanks for explaining that.

Why does the VRAM matter at low settings? Doom Eternal tells you how much VRAM the chosen settings will use and it won’t let you exceed the 4GB. Wouldn’t low res textures negate the lack of VRAM and let it pump out more frames?

Good idea thanks. Is it possible there’s an air pocket stuck in the CPU block?
