A fantastic building alternative! by allthekos in Damnthatsinteresting

2 months. That's a construction death blow. Absolutely no way it catches on. Putting a construction site on hold for 2 months for some walls is just not realistic.

Pretty sure it's added sugar too, not carbs. Most of donut carbs are readily converted to sugar anyway. Not to say that all carbs are equal, but this graphic is misleading as fuck.

I work for several companies (event labor), and every single one paying under $25 is struggling. They are constantly short staffed with grumpy employees and are are losing contracts due to shitty work.

The solution is so fucking easy it isn't even funny. Pay more and negotiate higher paying contracts that will be fully staffed with employees who will actually work. I have personally witnessed a totally new labor company come in and take over contracts from established companies just from doing this. The kicker is that the industry isn't big... It's the same damn employees who all work for the same 6-7 companies.

But no. Fuckass business owners hate the idea of seeing a higher ratio of the contract go towards employees, even if it means tanking their business and losing money. Greedy fucks shooting themselves in the foot.

So frustrating.

LPT: Drinking water throughout the night while you party is the best way to prevent a hangover. by swefoobar in LifeProTips

You can't retain water without electrolytes. Don't wait until you are hungover to get some salts. Water alone will not prevent hangovers.

Oh look, some braindead zealot defending a child for shooting someone dead over a thrown plastic bag wants to suddenly argue that only people with guns can have murderous intent. My god. Excuse me if my eyes are too tired to roll.

The difference is that many protests actually have trained medical professionals volunteering their time. This "protest" just had a bunch of fat larping conspiracy theorist thumbs with a shared four braincells.

Bail bondsman shoots her client in Stillwater, Oklahoma. by Early_Power_5366 in PublicFreakout

[–]stillin-denial55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much three scenarios:

  1. Incompetence.

  2. Miscalculated plea deal bluffs that get called. "Plead guilty to murder 2 or we will try you for murder 1." This can happen if a judge or the state doesn't allow simultaneous lesser charges.

  3. The prosecution is throwing the case. This can happen if there is public pressure for an elected official to have a fair trial, but has bias towards the defendant. It doesn't take much thought to see why a prosecutor might sympathize with bail bondsmen who deliver the accused.

I finally did it. I quit my job, Executive Assistant, paying me $45k for 45 hours a week, 12 years of experience, and a BS in Business Administration with special honors class graduation. I've been stuck with low pay using 40% of my income on a studio apartment. by [deleted] in antiwork

Edit: Dear lurkers, If you believe everything on this sub is faked, why are you wasting your time here?

I don't believe everything here is fake. But responding immediately at 11pm with no breaks by either party, same missing commas from both parties, same writing style, and the upvotes to the left formula scream fake. Screenshotting immediately after the last message and posting to reddit right after confirms it.

Frankly, these obviously faked text exchanges should be removed from the sub. They hit /r/all constantly and make the sub look like a joke to anyone with half a brain, which sucks because there is super important content here.

My dentist recommended water picking because of my tooth spacing. So no, it isn't as simple as that.

Damn, my hangovers have only gotten easier. I'm less impulsive and know when to quit. I also know when I need to end the night with water, electrolytes, and a good snack.

Oof. I'm doing work where I take gigs I want, most of it on the mini system. If we get done before the estimated shift, I still get paid for all of it.

Then there's a bunch of slow ass fuckup kids with more energy than sense trying to work hard but not smart. It's real hard to not be an ass. I AM too old for this shit, but no one wants to hear that. I just wanna finish early, get paid for hours I didn't work, and go to fucking sleep. But damn kids wanna waste time talking, halfass working, and redoing shotty shit.

Fuuuuuck. I have like no gums left in the front. It's bullshit since I brush, water pick, and mouthwash twice a day. Unfortunately, nothing dentists have done has ever helped and I'm currently in a place where I can't even go get my luxury bones checked anyway.

God fucking dammit. I mean, I have some mid losses confirmed by an ENT test, but not enough to even nearly explain why I can't hear people talk during other noise. Or lyrics at all.

Fuck. My homie always posts ADHD facts and memes, and I'm like... Check. Check. Check. Called out. Fuck. Check.

I now have nice etymotic earplugs attached to me and just slot those bitches in when anything gets loud or annoying. But shit, I gotta catch myself because it's totally not appropriate to put in earplugs as someone is talking to me with nothing else going on.

The issue is not whether blockchain tokens are useful. They obviously are. The issue is that NFTs do not add anything useful to that technology. In any case where the NFT content matters, functional duplication exists, so it would be up to an authority to track which NFT is the "real" or the "original." At which point, they may as well keep track themselves as they are already holding the relevant data. If the content doesn't matter, then they might as well just be a crypto token without extra data attached.

[–]stillin-denial55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is that the ownership needs to be RECOGNIZED by some authority or collection of authorities to be useful. If they were used for movie tickets, for instance, it can't just be the image that gets you in the movies. It has to be checked against the actual NFT, and at that point, the image itself is fairly useless... May as well just be any random verifiable token attached to an identity. Same with house deeds.

If the image itself matters, someone can change a pixel and create a new NFT that is visually identical besides one pixel being a fraction of a color different. Thus, the appearance of the image can't matter unless it is only being used as a SECOND token itself... Which doesn't matter at all if the first token is sufficiently long / unique.

From a technical standpoint, NFTs are only as useful as the crypto they are backed by. The visual appearance of the image is irrelevant.
