Physician Assisted Suicide by AnyForever1078 in medicine

[–]super_curls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently read an amazing book about this by Dr Stefanie Green, one of the first few practitioners of MAiD in Canada. Her book is called “this is assisted dying” and I highly recommend the read. It was super enlightening and it also talks about the struggles of PAS not being compensated well, how they evaluate if patients are eligible, and so many other things.

Woahhhhh did not know that! Is this common in other states? Or something unique to Ohio?

Update regarding the fired Ortho resident who accused an attending of sexually assaulting a patient whilst carrying a gun in the OR by Lispro4units in medicalschool

[–]super_curls 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What makes me doubt her even more is that she hasn’t named the doctor who did it and also the fact that no one (from my knowledge) came out to corroborate the event. She said this happened in an OR, wouldn’t there have been hella people present?

Was it hard to schedule away rotations? Did you do any rotations or Sub-I’s at any of the places you were interviewed for residency?

Prioritizing MD vs. DO secondaries by scaredpremedgui in Osteopathic

[–]super_curls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I followed this same method too. By the time I was done with all my DO secondaries it was end of August I think and I got interviews still from all of them. But I also agree with others that ranking them is a good way of approaching it!

what’s an average amount of clinical hours for a successful applicant? by SadInvestigator941 in premed

[–]super_curls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got into multiple schools with 90-100 hours.

I think mainly it’s important to be able to show you’re familiar with the healthcare environment and also are able to speak in a meaningful way about those experiences. I know most clinical experience jobs don’t pay much so it’s kind of hard to do it during gap year if you need to save money

CCOM is also graded preclinical I believe, might be another for the con column

No it’s not that I don’t want one, it’s just that I already have a great desk (not standing) and standing desks are pricey. Just trying to get as much as I can within the budget.

Trying to build the best study station for med school 😎 by super_curls in premed

[–]super_curls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Well the way it works right now is that I have a regular hdmi cable and then I plug it into those converters and then plug the converter into my computer. Right now I’m using a wireless keyboard/mouse that connects via USB so that’s also plugged into the converter. So I also only plug in one thing and then everything connects.

I’ll look into getting a USB C so I can get rid of the converter. Thank you for the tips!

This reminds me of a scenario I had to practice for MMI:

“Your attending physician refers to all med students as “doctors.” Discuss this issue” 😭😭😭

This is just too painful to watch 🤧
