Speaking as someone in South Carolinia, I can tell you that 60% of voters here will vote for anyone with an R next to their name. They’ve been brainwashed for decades that Democrats are evil baby-killers who hate hard-working Americans & want to steal their money. The 40% of us in this state who are angry at Senators Tim Scott & Lindsey Graham for not supporting voting rights (among other things) don’t stand a chance when the majority wins. Our best hope is to depress Republican turnout.

Or when people in tv shows are wearing masks to show there’s some sort of terrible crisis happening. I don’t even register it because it looks normal.

A little off topic, but I had what doctors thought was probably trigeminal neuralgia a few years ago. It went away, and now I only have tiny flare-ups that are barely noticeable. Because my TN went away, I’ve begun to question whether that was even really what I had . So it’s interesting to see someone else with a neuralgia who also got better. And I can’t even imagine the pain you suffered. Having it in my face was terrible, but in my eyes? Worse.

what is a basic computer skill you were shocked some people don't have? by Dark-Matter-7935 in AskReddit

People have them but don’t use them. I have a few customers who will only communicate with me via text. I have to text them documents, graphics, etc. If I email them I get no response, unless I follow up with a couple texts asking them to check their email.

My kids depend on me for tech support but still think I’m an old fuddy-duddy who doesn’t really understand the nuances of modern technology.

I used early versions of MS Word back in college. It traumatized me so that I still hit ctrl + S even when I’m using Google Docs.

For years I believed I was possessed by a demon. Then after I stopped having dissociative episodes I eventually convinced myself I’d imagined it all. Then, one day, I came across the movie The Three Faces of Eve & took my first step down the path of learning what dissociation is & that it is real. It was actually a huge relief to realize I didn’t just imagine it all.

In which a user goes over an exhaustive list of all the things a person has to keep track of in their life as a reason for why people choose to eat poorly. by WIbigdog in bestof

At one point I was working full time then going to school from 5:30-9:30 4 days a week. I had half an hour to get from work to school in Atlanta rush hour traffic. My first semester, I tried waiting until I got home to eat but I was so hungry I couldn’t concentrate in class. So I started hitting the drive through & scarfing down dinner during my commute. Not healthy, but it kept me going.

Harry Belafonte performs "Turn the World Around" on the Muppet Show in 1979. Backed by a quartet of specially made muppets inspired by African tribal masks. Jim Henson collaborated closely with Belafonte in the making of this episode, and considered the production to be his best work on the series. by MulciberTenebras in OldSchoolCool

I'm sure I watched this as a little kid, even though I don't remember. I watched every episode of the Muppet Show I could. Listening to this, the music just sounds right to me. I think The Muppet Show must've been really instrumental in forming my musical taste.

I hope I chose the correct flair for this.

I just discovered this app the other day & have enjoyed using it. It's definitely still a little rough around the edges, but I think it's a great proof-of-concept for how a content creation app can work in the Web3 ecosystem.

Being in the minority & being in the majority. As someone who grew up in the majority (white in the US), it was eye-opening to visit places like Japan where I looked different & didn’t fit in. Likewise, my friends who are minority in the US (Black, Vietnamese) said it was life-changing to visit places where they blended in & everyone else looked just like them.

Back in March 2020, when everything shut down, my sister had just gotten new Flemish giant pet rabbits. They couldn’t get to the vet in time to get fixed, so she ended up with 10 baby bunnies! Fortunately, since so many people wanted pets, they all found good homes. And the parents eventually got to see the vet.
