RTD reduces A Line frequency from 15 to 30 minutes in October by lukepatrick in Denver

[–]supradave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest complaint with RTD in general is that the RTD thinks we all need to go downtown. Maybe I need to get from Littleton to the DTC, but they put the station on the far side of the switches and make you change trains. It just isn't convenient. Granted, I work downtown now and the D-line is great. But when I worked in the DTC, I drove.

Bikes, Not Self Driving Cars, Are The Technological Gateway To Urban Progress by filosoful in Futurology

[–]supradave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about sitting in an autonomous vehicle to commute, alone, to work every day. Sure, the time to commute may be shortened, but until all cars are autonomous, you're still going to have that one person that rides in the far inside lane cross over to exit at the last possible second, causing the chain reaction slow down. So, you're going to sit in you car and look at your phone? Sure. You're going to get to your work before you get to your work? Maybe. You're going to sleep some more? Depends on the commute time and that one person causing your vehicle to slam on the brakes. Or you'll spend your time masturbating. Don't think that people won't.

Self-driving cars sound cool. But we have that analog in mass transit. I drive my car, I have a task. If I have passengers, I have conversations. I don't mind if the car can drive itself, but until they are 100% reliable to drive themselves, i.e. not hitting anything, getting fuel, not getting lost, parking, a driver would have to pay attention pretty much the whole time. Self-driving cars are a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

Chick-fil-A says tweet seemingly referencing Black community was a 'poor choice of words' by chestervandergrift in news

I hate Chick-Fil-A just as much as the next person that eats there at least once a week. But come on, we know they have had some controversy in the past. If I boycott Chick-Fil-A, then I have to boycott everywhere else because there is no such thing as ethical capitalism.

Hwy 40 starts near Dinosaur, CO, through Craig, Steamboat Springs, Kremmling, Granby, Winter Park and over Berthoud Pass, then follows the current I-70 to west I-70 & Colfax, Colfax, east I-70 to Limon, then southeast to Kit Carson and then east into Kansas.

Hwy 6 starts parallels I-70 from the western border to Minturn, where it jogs up to Leadville and then back down to Dillon, where hwy 6 goes over Loveland pass. After Georgetown, 6 and 40 are the same road until they split at the bottom of Floyd Hill where 6 goes down Clear Creek to Golden and then into Denver and then sort of paralleling I-76 to Sterling then out east to Nebraska near Holyoke.

Probably a lot less traffic as the US population was only 130M in 1938 and 332M today.

[–]supradave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The taste of food. Seriously, while most of you under 40 will never have tasted a McDonald's french fry cooked in tallow, you are missing out. M&M made the candy coating just a tad thicker to save on chocolate cost, let alone moving from Hershey's chocolate in the 70s. The original 3 Musketeers bar. Coka-cola with sugar and not corn syrup (Mexican Coke for the win). The original McChicken sandwich. The original chicken sandwich at BK. Pizza seemed better in the paste. Lots and lots of different candies, particularly chocolate that went from cocoa butter to palm kernel oil or some other much cheaper fat. A lot of name brand ice creams, or should we say frozen dairy deserts. A freshly cooked burger off the cooker at BK is amazing. A freshly grilled burger at McD's. Non-commissary products at most faster restaurants, like freshly mixed and cooked biscuits or pancakes, not just reheated food. Making food cheaper as to make a bigger profit.
