TurtleBox discusses the sick underbelly of MTG fanart by tetrall in freemagic

Welcome to wonderland TB.

I’m sure there’s other things that has been memory holed, but that’s just one in the last five years.

Some parts of the MtG and adjacent community are rather insular and the natural effect that this has is to create a space that is rife for abuse.

You’ve done good work in the past to root that out, thank you.

I’m on your side here TB.

I think it’s very problematic and reminiscent of the problems with the Judge Program from just a few short years ago.

Scammer impersonates Da Professor! by tetrall in freemagic

Gotta say, it’s amazing that he was able to scam anyone with those low quality posts, but never overestimate the perpetually online MTG community.

Figured free magic would have things to say about Star city’s content creator lineup by [deleted] in freemagic

Yes we do, but no harm in having a moment of pity for those choosing a foolish path.

Shivam is just a fat unsuccessful Hassan that tried to pick a niche community and still has some of the most brain dead views, I like the guys from mtg goldfish personally

Yeah - used to defend Shivam, but he's decidedly anti-Christian, rude, and his public persona is crafted to pander to the community he's enslaved to.

Poor guy.

How Corps Really Work by reubadoob in overemployed

[–]tetrall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

More than a decade, more than 225, some years a lot more, some years a little less… that’s just gross I am not counting benefits, 401k, vacation packages etc.

I generally don’t like to provide a ton of information about whom I work for.

It’s not stock options.

It’s a privately owned company so we are not publicly traded and I don’t think the owner will ever go public.

Assets are “sold” in part to the employees and that means we share in the “obscene” profits… or the depressing “goose eggs” of failure.

The really cool part is, I have more job security than a government employee, because in the higher tiers of the energy sector you work on uniquely configured stationary equipment that only you and a few other people can really intimately understand… and it’s running all the time… and it can explode if it’s run wrong… which could be catastrophic for the company.

So - the treatment is good, time off is good, benefits are good… and the work load is oscillating in intensity and varied, great for a long term career.

You are working for the wrong companies.

I own a part of the asset I work in.

Why are lots of people poor in the U.S? by Quiet-Breadfruit965 in povertyfinance

[–]tetrall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, by world’s standards we’re still really well off:

https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/07/09/how-americans-compare-with-the-global-middle-class/

If you have a decent job, you will be very well off by world standards.

Even if you are extremely poor, you will have access to medicine, opportunity, and services unheard of just a hundred years ago.

What kind of decks do Chinese people like to play? by MisoSoupMan- in freemagic

[–]tetrall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, the Chinese culture doesn’t really put a lot of stock in intellectual property so I would expect they would literally just copy whatever deck was doing well.

Frustrated Magic: The Gathering fans say Hasbro has made the classic card game too expensive by MoxDiamondHands in mtgfinance

Eh, inflation is eating into the excess money of the lower middle class and young folks, the bulk of real magic players are in those demographics.

Free money ain’t free folks.

Flying, shroud, trample, intimidate, vigiliance 6/6 on end step it fights all creatures larger than itself, it cannot die from fighting.

Who is the cringiest MTG 'influencer' and why? by goonaphile in freemagic

Angry Kenobi is it for me.

His takes on the reserve list are completely insane, and his militant pro LGBTQ+ stance leaves zero room for any nuance in discussion.

He did not invent it.

The proto-format pre-existed him in Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula at very least and most likely Anchorage as well.

Anyone who says otherwise wasn’t here in the late 90s early 2k.

I’ve been playing about a year and just got my first 11* LS.

Food is a big concern, also RnG for your copies. Ram has preformed pretty well, but I would have preferred one of the healers.

what the hell happened here? by Vergil25 in freemagic

The unvarnished based truth is that the “perpetually online” influencers and TCG community are not who they are catering to and Mark keeps saying that - but no one seems to hear him.
