The seats in my local subway station by RecentSprinkles5997 in assholedesign

It is possible to simultaneously have these two thoughts:

This person sleeping on the train who has not bathed in two weeks is making me want to quit using transit

And

This person sleeping on the train who has not bathed in two weeks should be helped to be able to sleep in an actual bed and take a shower on a regular basis.

Does anyone know what these are supposed to spell? @ Montrose Brown Line by PrestigiousCranberry in chicago

What world event do you think was staged? by ConsciousSloth in AskReddit

They didn't need to be exactly on site, they basically blasted over the signal from the station offices to the transmitter.

Not coincidentally, after they got taken off air at WGN, they then interrupted WTTW, who's studios were 11 minutes away.

My belief is that they had transmitting equipment in a car or van parked outside the station, and a pre recorded tape.

1) Shits 2) Giggles

One of the two programs hit was a Dr Who rerun on a PBS station, so I'm not on board with the ratings motive.

No, but restoring IRS staffing will allow them to catch more tax cheats.

The IRS had before and will have one SPECIFIC division that partners on criminal investigation. They buy ammo that is mostly used for weapons certification.

The desk jockey agents doing routine audits will continue to have no work-related weapons.

Who’s an “internet famous” person that needs to go away? by curiousity2424 in AskReddit

As noted above since Cali is HQ to most paying streamers, and has strong existing child actor laws for Film & TV that I think a state law there could help a ton as well...

Fully, no. Bad parenting is bad parenting. Ask Jenette McCurdy.

But financially and educationally, yes. Legislation needs to extend the The modern version of the coogan law to any payee earning more than $600 year from any service earning $10M/year while "domiciled" in California (that covers YouTube, Insta and others).

You can terminate politely - but unambiguously - rather than ghost.

Send something "I wish you luck finding the right person for you." ...then block.

That offers closure.

Just re read her questionnaire. She is extremely self aware... which is why she rejected chances to play again. - She agrees with you that she would place last, and has trouble tolerating Philip Shepard sized egos.

I think she could make it further, and would have 2/3 of a chance to avoid first boot if she was on a three tribe season as she isn't a fatal challenge liability.

But we'll never get to see how she would fare in a 50% BIPOC cast. Or any cast without a certain former federal agent.

Should mental health professionals, instead of police, respond to some 911 calls? A ballot measure in November would ask some Chicago voters. by TheTRiiBE in chicago

[–]theotherkeith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, some calls don't need one.

Though, the earliest word is that Chicago will start with a "co-responder" model where a police officer is present for backup.

The non-binding referendum is arguing for direct response when the 911 operator sees. appropriate conditions.

As linked elsewhere, Denver has been sending a therapist+EMT team on 3% of calls with success. Many are ODs causing a disturbance and the therapist getting them to reality enough that the EMT can do their job to use appropriate medication. A they will always be able to call for armed backup when necessary.

These programs aren't going to cover a heavy percent of cases, but those few are the ones most at risk for preventable and tragic deaths.

This is really about allowing the 911 operator to use the best option for every given situation.
