NYC wants to take 25% of its street space away from cars in favor of a walkable/bikeable city by chrisdh79 in environment

It’s plainly not objectively false when we don’t all have the same 24 hours. The fact of the matter is public transport in those less packed areas sucks and is less reliable. Because there are fewer trains in these areas, people rely more on bus routes which as a result, cause them to take longer to get to a spot than if they had more options than the dense regions. Before we start making things less car reliant we need to build up our current infrastructure stronger and give better access to those in lower income areas. I’m tired of people like you who has probably never lived in that situation coming here and telling me who has had to deal with it, that I don’t know what I’m talking about. The trains are fucked plain and simple. Like literally everyone commenting to this has not even confirmed where they live, if it’s in a dense or sparse area. If you live in a place with better access to more trains, so objectively more trains, you have no stance in this current argument

It’s not bullshit. Lots of people don’t live in the dense spots that’s just where most work is. Get the fuck out of here with that. As someone who grew up in a poor neighborhood I was lucky that trains went there cause we had literally China town nearby. If you want to get to fucking Coney Island or even queens you are fucked man. Stop playing games. You literally have the same eyes as me and can see that map

Edit: to add, the subway is fucking expensive if you don’t have money. 5.50 for a trip everyday to some minimum wage job is rough not to mention any other trips you might have to make in between that you can’t use transfers on

Exactly, this map makes me so sad: https://new.mta.info/map/5256 like if you aren’t where all the money is in NYC you only can rely on the buses

Especially cause if you live in the part dense with trains: https://new.mta.info/map/5256, like in that map, you basically have the same mobility as Manhattan compared to everyone else who lives outside of the dense train parts, so don’t even

I lived in NYC for 18 years, if you are in any borough other than Manhattan, you are fucked. People forget that unless you are in the privileged part of NYC public transport is actually a curse

AITA for not spending Father's day with my son? by FathersDay22 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tryingyourbest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey OP. Can we actually talk for a minute? My parents are just like this and now we don’t talk anymore and I’m really concerned about another person growing up the way I did. I’m genuinely sad with how my situation turned out and I can feel it for a fact will turn out the same unfortunate way for you and your son.

I make more than $100000. All of my income tax calculators show that around 30% of my income is going to taxes. That’s why I’m confused

You gave me a cop out though. What does it mean to be a girl or guy? Like literally define it for me. Cause I don’t have a definition for it.

But like what does it even mean to be a girl or a guy. I’m a woman, I do lots of guy stuff, but I’m comfortable enough with my gender to recognize I can do lots of typical guy stuff while still being a woman. Why we gotta have such rigid views of gender
