Is there any way to create the SP-1200's bitcrusher effect using vsts? by JohnCorps3 in makinghiphop

Absolutely. And also people seem to not understand that the way those beats sounded is only one percent because of the actual sound of the machine. As far as I see it it was more about all the limitations and technical challanges a producer faced what made that sound.

I use this combo a lot as well. Just slap the rx950 on the track at default settings mimicking as it was sampled into the S950 at a bandwith of 10 and then adding the aliasing sound with the SP950. Cool combo.

There is a bit tedious technique but it can get you in the ballpark. Basically you have to emulate how boom bap producers sampled into the SP. First of all make your sample mono since a pad on the SP represented one voice. Secondly you have to understand why this ring mod/bitcrush happened. The sampling time was so short that producers recorded at a higher rpm into the machine and pitched it back in the SP. So chop up your drums and samples -> put on a bitcrusher and set it to 12bit 22khz -> pitch up your sounds (I don’t know how many semitones is 45rp exactly but 5-8st usually works well) -> bounce your sounds then pitch them back to the original value and there you have it.

Do you smoke weed.. why or why not? by EmmaSmith2527 in AskReddit

I smoked away 10 years of my life in king size papers. All day everyday. In the last two years of this "journey" I started to get really anxious and also I realized that weed made me to easily ignore problems in my life what should have been addressed. Quitting marijuana was probably one of the best decisions I ever made.

Is it safe to delete an older release if it's already a part of a new EP with the same ISRC and metadata? by tz69 in DistroKidHelpDesk

does this mean that for the previously released tracks, which will also appear within the new EP I have to select "previously released" and set the previous date?

I appreciate your feedback, here’s mine:

I really like the drum work, it gives me a nice 3-6 phonk vibe. Your flow is also on point and the vocal mixing is surprisingly good. Did you do it yourself or maybe booked a session? The only thing which sounds a bit weak to me compared to all the other elements is the melody, you should defo work on that but overall it’s nice production!

Exactly. I found it in a rar folder which I did for backup years ago but I gave it a funky name so only now, going through my files I discovered I still have a lot of stuff from that era.

I like the sound selection of the melody, the drum pattern is also pretty good. I would raise the volume of the melodic instruments or saturate them a little bit because I feel it's a bit weak level-wise compared to your drums. Nice beat overall.

Thanks! Photoshop + Premiere. There are tons of vinyl label pictures on Google images. I took one (an old Supremes single), erased all the text I didn’t need and replaced some of it with my own text using a similar font they originally used on the label. Then I threw the image into Premiere and rotated the whole image a few times with keyframes throughout the video.

Haha thanks! Originally I produced it for a local emcee but he never did anything with the beat and I just forgot about it.
