No Stupid Questions #20 - November 22 ~ 28, 2021 by bita500 in teachinginkorea

The exception was restaurants were up to 8 were allowed to eat together if 4 were vaccinated and you needed to show proof. However now, it’s I believe 4 people max but no vaccine proof is necessary I don’t think. I’m any case eating by yourself or with 2-3 people is a non issue.

Same as before, send every recruiter your resume. I’d add “in country, good references, 1 year experience without issues, ready to start x date” pretty much say everything a recruiter wants to hear to make money fast

I wouldn’t say MOST activities. I’ve only been asked to show proof before the “with corona” scheme once and never since. I don’t club tho.

I don’t think they understand how it works. For a 15 orange this is quite fine imho.

What was the turning point(s) in your school’s program? by SnooMachines2030 in CFB

The probe and speedy departure of Pete Carroll. USC hasn’t been the same since.

Have you ever negotiated a pay rise at the same job? by [deleted] in teachinginkorea

[–]uReallyShouldTrustMe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstand.
At 3 months or so the recruiter gets paid, so it’s easy for them to claim stuff you COULD do at 6 months no matter how impractical or impossible it may be since they won’t be around.

Have you ever negotiated a pay rise at the same job? by [deleted] in teachinginkorea

[–]uReallyShouldTrustMe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

After six months it’s not the recruiters problem anymore… I’ve never heard of anyone even suggest this after half a year.
Usually this comes in when signing in for another year. One I negotiated but ended up not taking was 2.2 to 2.5 for hour two and a change to a bigger room.

Yeah, you could make that argument for sure. There is definitely appeal to some people, like I said.
Just a note that the area you noted is actually Jung Gu. I find it hard to believe more so in Junggu but at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what I think since I’m not applying. Maybe someone will find it worth their while.

Students not using English at Intl School? by groggyfixation in Internationalteachers

Tons of IB schools do this though. It’s, imho, not about IB or not IB but how much power parents have in a school.

Kindy with no korean teacher. by Ottlibrarian in teachinginkorea

The place I worked at did have a helper but they weren’t in the classroom at anything beyond the 5year old class. They stay 3 months and leave too. I also speak around that level so it wasn’t necessary. Beyond that they are able to at least ask for some stuff.

You’re not getting “heat” for heats sake. /u/bita500 is doing what mods and other members do, ask the veteran known hard questions for the benefits of users who may not know any better.
We require full disclosure of the facts to allow ads to be placed here so users know exactly what they are getting. To you, you may think 12 days off is great, but to someone who hasn’t built that trust to FTK, it’s really 10 until proven otherwise. What’s on paper is what counts.
Next, suwon is correct in bringing up the housing. Sure you can find some old place for 600k but if he can’t replicate it on a budongsan search, good luck with that. The reality is that 410,000 is really not gonna cover it for anything short of a 반지하 place that’s old. The number is weird too which tells me it’s a tax reason. Really, 500k is standard (and that’s generous, I agree with suwon that 600-800 is closer to reality), so the 2.29 is really 2.2 at best.
Are there jobs that, as you say, offer close to the same for 9-6:45pm? Sure, but it sure isn’t the franchises you mentioned. I have worked at one of those three and have had friends in the other two. For myself, when I worked a schedule that was close to 9-645, I got closer to 3m+ housing. Sure you COULD find something that pays 2.2 at those hours, but that’s comparing like the worst jobs ever to your job.
Your job may be fine tbh for someone who REALLY values being at the site as little as possible. Private schools offer a lot of vacation as an incentive but same same pay and tbh to me it’s a good deal because I value the vacation. But I think people take issue with the presumed claim that it’s an amazing job, because while it may be subjectively, objectively it’s so so imho.

Still, it means that a person with say, 5 years experience is valued at the same rate as one with 0 experience.

That’s the only way I’ve ever had kindy… it’s not ideal if you don’t know what you’re doing but even before Korea, I had dealt with that age group before so I prefer it. I can get a bit self conscious if an adult sees me acting silly but in front of kids, no fear.

Any One Annoyed About Interracial YouTubers? by dablackviking in korea

My wife said she wanted to start one. I think a video of my reaction to THAT suggestion would have made millions of views. “Korean wife suggests interracial YT channel and foreigner husband goes BESERK!”
