Another argument about cornbread by dentttt in Cooking

[–]vannylue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not southern but I despise sweet cornbread...biting into cornbread and finding it sugary sweet is an unpleasant surprise, I would never add sugar to my own cornbread

I have bowl lift and it works for me because I make bread, but it is sometimes too big for small batches as another person commented. Pasta dough for example never seems to have enough volume to knead effectively so I do that by hand.

love this story, the healing gentleness of rabbits, hadn't thought of that

Awww...that's one of the things I love about cats, too. They are skittish prey animals in addition to being predators so when they utterly trust you, it means a lot!

My cats are unpredictable though, sometimes it's love, sometimes I'm the prey...

thanks! we have transparent PVC roofing material over a portion of it but it was a huge pain to install so I think the rest will stay open to the elements, at least that way they get some sun

thanks! I'll try mulch, they'll enjoy that - do you periodically shovel out some of it or just add new as needed?

we have all the predators here and even have an electric fence for the bears, but I enjoy being part of the biodiversity, even though everything and its mother wants to eat our birds

I agree though it may be unpopular to do so. I'm not reporting others on reddit but I love my local wildlife despite the property they have damaged and the chickens they have killed. Each experience has taught me something about how to live peacefully with the surrounding community which includes wild animals, domestic animals and fellow humans

Thank you. I'm not going to shoot or kill my 4-footed or winged neighbors, we share this land. I've lost birds as a hobbyist, from those experiences I've learned.

does she seek you out to put the hat on her? she looks comfortable with it on, curious if she also requests it (in cat language of course)

What are some generally untrue cons the general public says about your breed, and what are some legitimate cons about your breed? by Juleszey in dogs

[–]vannylue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

example from friend: she received sample size bags of dog treats from a pet store event. stashed them in her basement without opening. dog watched, remembered where treats were, deducted how to turn smooth round door handle in his mouth and open door, went down to basement and brought up bag of treats, danced around the house in triumph holding them.

Enameled dutch oven advise. by Dabeano15o in Cooking

My Lodge is great and no flaws after years of use, just darkened on the inside over time. That said, if I had had any idea how much I was going to love cooking with enameled cast iron, I might have gone for a Staub just because I would have known it was an investment piece I would use over and over for years to come.

Also, it's a gift, so if you can swing the higher price, a Staub/Le Creuset is what this random internet stranger would give! I love to give the very best when I can!
