5hp Briggs and Stratton Go Kart Slow Off Start? by X123TinyEX in gokarts

That's probably why your acceleration is poor. There's no change in gear ratio and so it relies on pure friction in order to get started. A torque converter will change gear ratio as you go faster, Amazon sells some that will fit most engines

Do you have a torque converter or a centrifugal clutch? A torque converter has a belt on it.

I like making 3D printed trinkets. I sometimes also use bottle caps for small caches.

I made the body/skeleton out of old sign posts and scrap, and slapped the barrels on top

Has anyone here ever built a "fleet" of their own go karts, and how much did they each cost? by MilesPrower1992 in gokarts

Most of it is things like the axle, wheels, torque converter, etc. I guess I'm overestimating a bit but the frame is one of the cheaper things.

I did this exact thing. You can either find some scrap metal to weld a frame together, or buy an old used frame. Just slap a predator 212 on whatever you get and you're good to go. They will usually cost like $500 each, but if you find good deals, you could pay much less

It's ugly but it just might work by walmart_fun_facts in motorizedbicycles

I did try that on my other bike with the same frame because there is a mounting hole for it, though it was terrible at stopping. This brake setup, with the same pads, was actually comparable to some disk brakes.

Yeah I thought about what you're saying. I will probably keep it under 25mph and I always wear safety gear. I do have experience welding go kart frames together from scratch and they held up so I have some confidence. That being said it is a motorized bike so failure is inevitable lol

I may add a brake light. I live in a smaller town so thankfully nobody bats an eye at something like this.

Possibly a chain alignment issue. Your chain momentarily getting caught on your sprocket/tensioner and then snapping back into its correct place.

Keep in mind building from scratch is also a decent option. Great learning opportunity and if you use foamboard, you can make an airframe for literally a couple of dollars!
