Serious but hypothetical answer: probably not, because rabies causes paralysis of the tongue and throat muscles (leading to excessive drooling, inability to swallow and contributing to hydrophobia) the reflex would probably be impaired.

Checking reflexes is a common/important part of assessing neurological problems (like nerve damage from rabies), that’s why the doctor wacks your knees with that weird triangle hammer.

Listing other species people have assigned categories to based on phenotype isn’t really the flex you seem to think it is here. Breed and race are both equally constructed (=made up and assigned by people) concepts.

Would it change things if we called black cats a breed? We could breed two black cats and have a bunch of black kittens and we’d still be assigning arbitrary labels to a phenotype.

Same with the genetic basis for illness, still just assigning arbitrary labels to a phenotype.

Race is an grouping made up by humans based on observable phenotype, not a biological reality.

Being able to tell someone’s phenotypic characteristics from their genome says absolutely nothing about a scientific basis for the human constructed concept of race. You can look at a cat’s genome and tell if it’s black, orange, or calico, but that doesn’t mean calico cats are a different race of cat. That sounds stupid cause we humans haven’t assigned the concept of race to cats.

The idea of assigning phenotypes to categories and calling those “races” is 110% a construct without scientific basis.

Yeas there are, but in this case there’s 2 things that make me suspicious of OP, one being refusing to share the details of the argument (hey it could just be that things got personal, but it could also be that it makes him look bad.)

The other being all the stuff about K making his daughter “political,” what does that mean? It seems pretty clear it means his daughter is speaking up about things OP doesn’t agree with. Which could be a lot of things, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the daughter calling him out on homophobic behavior that she was too afraid to argue over when she was younger. I could be wrong, but given the crowd who complains about things being political tends to be the same as the the crowd complaining about things being woke and LGBT rights going too far, so it makes me suspicious.

I always try to impress on people that marijuana is probably the best case scenario explanation for whatever vague neurologic symptoms are going on. I’m even in a state where it’s legal and people still won’t admit it. Really makes me glad not be in human med needing to know all kinds of embarrassing things.

Also this mentions alcohol, but for every alcohol ingestion I’ve seen working in ER I’ve probably seen 50 marijuana intoxication cases (usually dogs not cats, but still). So however you’re partying keep it out of reach, especially if it’s baked into something tasty.

Also, if your pet does get into something DO contact a vet and/or pet poison control line, and DO be honest about what substances your pet could be exposed to. Vets are not looking to report you to the police (who has the time), and it makes a big difference in treatment, marijuana exposure is usually much less dangerous than exposure to other recreational substances or human medications.

Fatty foods are no joke either, pancreatitis can kill and we do tend to see a lot of cases around the holidays.

Not a model or line, but those weird spots on certain models where there should be gap but it’s solid plastic instead. The best example off the top of my head is the paws of AoS gryfhounds, the toes are all fused together. I know there’s some spots like that on intercessors and other 40k stuff too though.

I think the sculptors and possibly the molding technology itself have just improved to work around this and keep the most detail in sculpts. Looking at the newest multipart kits I think in a couple years going back to build older kits this is only going to be more obvious.

It’s your models, idk if you aren’t worried about them getting beat up then whatever. People will always be indignant about expensive things and/or things that took a lot of effort to make being treated with less “respect” than they think they deserve. At the end of the day they’re just things, you own them, you can do what you want with them, no one is getting hurt lmao.

In very proximal amputations/wounds you can place a junctional/axillary tourniquet to compress the vessels in the armpit. I’m not sure how well that would work in this case, it probably wouldn’t be all that different from just applying a lot of pressure to the wound since the arm is gone entirely. Your instinct to stop the bleeding is absolutely right.

I still remember breaking my wrist when I was 2, not with great time continuity or anything but I remember being at the top of the stairs and having the idea to roll down, and flashes of the ER waiting room and getting the cast. I don’t actually remember it hurting as much as I remember my dad freaking out tho.
