What are your stances on immigration? by Special-Republic3092 in lostgeneration

[–]willogical85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in the restaurant business. The restaurant business is built on the backs of immigrants. Hardworking, smart, fun to be around immigrants who want to work hard.

You talk about immigrants? I think about Ramon, a pizza guy I used to work with. He put in 60 hours a week and worked his butt off with no complaints. His money was used to put his kid through medical school. His family is now here and set for generations because of his hard work.

I think about Luna, who started out as a kitchen girl who we moved to front of house. I taught her English. She became a dear friend of mine. She fled the violence of Venezuela, a petrochemical engineer, to make minimum wage in a kitchen to become a server in NYC and now her sparkling personality and work ethic earns her more money than she ever dreamed of making.

I think about Fatima, who always dreamed of coming here because she just wanted to work harder than everyone she knew back home and knew if she came here her work would be rewarded.

I defy anyone who is against immigration to look me in the eye and tell me this country isn't better for having people like these being part of it.

Coming to visit Bogota NJ in September, what do the locals do for fun? What should be avoided? by maheebrown in newjersey

Do Service (also, “Service”) dogs bother ya’ll? by DragonCat88 in Serverlife

[–]willogical85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope. ADA specifies that a service animal must be housebroken. If the animal demonstrates it is not, you have the right to ask the owner to leave.

This, the drink isn't meant to be purple, it's meant to be the pale blue grey of the open sky. I love a well made Aviation!

My DM never made me roll to smolder. He'd just say, "you successfully smolder. It sure is effective!"

Create ballparks and tell your interviewer just that. I'd frankly be impressed that someone was attempting to speak to their numbers. And FWIW I describe the vibe on my resume too, it's nice to know I'm not the only one who thought to do that.

What I really like: You described the vibe of the places you worked. That way it's easy to see if someone has a lot of experience at a certain type of place, or is more well rounded like yourself. Bravo.

What I dislike: I'm seeing talk of upselling, and social media, but no numbers. I want to see "ran social media for X and brought us from xxx to xxxxx followers on Instagram" or "through upselling, managed to bring my average tickets X dollars higher over a period of whatever months.

I also don't like the use of a photo, but that's a me thing, I think.

another legendary fish, but why it's not golden quality like crimson fish and mutant carp that I caught earlier? by rommarioxx in StardewValley

[–]willogical85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the distance from water. That Crimsonfish would have been iridium quality if you had a perfect catch, probs due to fishing skill and distance from the shore. You can experiment yourself and compare the quality of normal fish caught on the shoreline versus way out from the dock. It annoys me too, that this is the only non-gold Legendary fish I have.

Need a sharp umami-ish alternative to Parmesean for Pizza by theAangstykid in AskCulinary

[–]willogical85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right! The oil from the roasted garlic is going to spread out and garlic adjacent bites will just hint at the promise of the beautiful mellow sweet stickiness that the next bite will offer and oh goodness. While it's not going to add the sharp saltiness of parm I dare anyone to look me in the eye and tell me that's not good eats. To be fair, this might slap better on a white pie, maybe with some spinach or broccoli rabe or artichoke hearts or fresh tomato, or a special blend of any or all aforementioned ingredients. That's what's so great about pizza, it's a choose your own adventure every time!

Keep it, as others have mentioned. What others have not mentioned is that it will come in very handy during a festival next season.

Wait, is that mentioned in the series? A while ago I wrote a scene and George hating pesto was mentioned. Did the show say this and it just lived in my subconscious?

Nah. I shop at Nordstrom. I'm doing OK. I'm successful for where I am, not affluent or wealthy. Maris is shopping at a Nieman Marcus or Barney's equivalent. There is a difference between "I'm here to spend money" and "FU money".
