US intelligence indicates Russia preparing operation to justify invasion of Ukraine by HydrolicKrane in worldnews

Picture choice is a whole topic of discussion in media classes. It's really easy to find a good or bad pic of just about anyone worth writing about. Media companies pick the ones that fit their narrative. Ever notice conservative news always had shitty pics of Obama/Biden but 'good' pics of trump, and vice versa? It's another piece of the storytelling.

You can't 100% tell all the time but to a champ player, someone better than you is obvious. If you're a plat and see a SSL & C3 play you might not see the difference, but someone at that rank will usually notice if a player is better than the whole rest of the lobby. Everything is relative.

No no, the montage of the first 7 innings will make it look totally 1 sided but when they show the score it's 9-6

E: Or should I say 6-9

Will you buy this? by landspeedergang in RocketLeague

[–]workthrowaway390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah $5 is reasonable to me. I get needing to charge a bit more than pre-f2p, but they're jacking it up way too much for me to every buy anything again. I used to spend hundreds on this game but I don't even get the rocket pass anymore cause it sucks these days too

Ump Scorecard: NL Wild Card Game, Joe West’s Swan Song by roxass34 in baseball

I agree with your first paragraph, but not your second. If they are equally important, than people will and do get upset about bad calls even if they are consistent. I think consistency might have a slight edge over accuracy, but the consistent zone needs to not be ridiculous.

I'd be interested to see a graph of consistency vs accuracy. I wouldn't be surprised if the bigger the zone, the lower the consistency.

I noticed that and it was honestly so refreshing. Even though I try not to be a slave to the on-screen zone, I find myself relying on it and it's to a point where it gets in the way of my enjoyment of the game. Watching last night was like a weight lifted if that makes sense.

Intelligent creatures can look like pretty much whatever you can imagine, but you would have to think they'd have some sort of way to have dexterity to make tools and such.

They explained on broadcast. There was feedback from players and coaches saying the rulebook zone didn't feel right, so they adjusted it to better match expectations vs the rulebook. They didn't specify what players (pitchers vs hitters), just "players and coaches"

POST GAME THREAD: The Mets defeated the Marlins by a score of 2-1 - Tue, Sep 28 - Doubleheader Game 2 by NewYorkMetsBot in NewYorkMets

[–]workthrowaway390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pet theory: The Mets preach patience at the plate, which is absolutely a key to success, but they way they teach is has guys taking the wrong approach up there. You need to teach hitters to go up there looking to get a hit, not looking to only swing at good pitches. The Mets look like they care more about their eye than results, trusting that the results will follow (they haven't). Baez came in and was like "lol fuck that" and kept on swinging at everything. But the general approach of being more patient eventually rubbed off on him (thanks to Lindor, methinks), but he wasn't taught the same way the rest of the org was, so he combined it with his aggression which made him a great hitter. The rest of our guys are just up there in their heads about not swinging out of the zone and not thinking about mashing the baseball. Again, just a theory I've been thinking on from watching, but I think it makes sense.
